Credit Manager - Location based on successful candidate, within AgCredit Territory

The Credit Manager is responsible for oversight of credit quality, underwriting integrity, and portfolio risk management across assigned regions or the Association. This role combines advanced credit analysis expertise with leadership of credit staff and credit processes, ensuring consistent application of AgCreditโ€™s underwriting standards, risk philosophy, and internal controls. The position will work closely with the other credit manager(s) and will be responsible for supervising, leading, & developing the credit analysts assigned to them.

The position serves as a key link between Credit Administration, field lending teams, & ELT providing independent credit guidance, ensuring sound loan structures, and maintaining compliance with AgCredit policy, Farm Credit Administration (FCA) regulations, and safety and soundness expectations. The Credit Manager will comply with all AgCredit, ACA policies and procedures while maintaining regular and punctual attendance as expected of this position.

What Youโ€™ll Do:
  • Lead and oversee credit underwriting activities, ensuring adherence to AgCreditโ€™s credit philosophy, underwriting standards, and risk appetite.
  • Review and approve or recommend action on complex, large, and higher-risk credit requests.
  • Ensure sound credit decisions through evaluation of repayment capacity, collateral adequacy, risk factors, loan structure, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Monitor portfolio performance, including credit quality, risk ratings, delinquency trends, adverse assets, and concentration risk.
  • Identify, assess, and elevate emerging credit risks; provide portfolio risk reporting to senior leadership.
  • Oversee stress testing, sensitivity analysis, and ongoing portfolio monitoring activities.
  • Ensure compliance with AgCredit policies, FCA regulations, audit requirements, and credit administration standards.
  • Support credit reviews, audits, examinations, and the development of credit policies, procedures, and underwriting guidelines.
  • Partner with lending staff, the SAM Manager, and legal counsel to manage distressed assets, loan workouts, and borrower rights requirements.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop Credit Analysts and other credit team members through coaching, training, and performance management.
  • Serve as the Associationโ€™s subject matter expert on credit analysis, underwriting, industry trends, and risk management practices.
  • Participate on the Association Loan Committee and Risk Management Committee, providing independent credit perspective and governance oversight.
  • Review loan packages for completeness, accuracy, policy compliance, and appropriate risk identification.
  • Drive continuous improvement of credit processes, systems, and operational efficiencies across the Association.
  • Serve as a liaison between Credit Administration, lending teams, and support functions to promote consistency and collaboration.
  • Maintain knowledge of agricultural markets, commodity trends, and economic conditions impacting borrowers and portfolio performance.
  • Demonstrate AgCreditโ€™s Core Values and Core Competencies while completing required training and supporting organizational initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
What Youโ€™ll Need:
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or Agriculture
  • Seven to ten + years of progressive experience in agricultural or commercial credit.
  • Demonstrated expertise in advanced financial analysis and GAAP-based underwriting, loan structuring, collateral valuation, credit risk management, portfolio monitoring, and credit administration.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and supervisory skills.
  • High level of judgment and independent decision-making capability.
  • Ability to communic ate effectively with Loan Committee, senior leadership, Account Officers and examiners.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Knowledge of Farm Credit System structure and agricultural lending practices preferred.
