- Oversee and direct end‑to‑end review engagements (planning, methodology, fieldwork, issue identification, and reporting), by ensuring robust testing of credit risk identification, measurement, monitoring, and control processes, and by challenging the effectiveness and design of first- and second-line frameworks.
- Provide independent, candid, and well‑substantiated conclusions and thematic insights to senior management, risk committees, and other governance forums, by synthesizing complex review results into clear, decision‑useful commentary and recommendations.
- Drive high standards of methodology, documentation quality, and review discipline across the Credit Risk Review team, by establishing and monitoring adherence to policies, procedures, and quality assurance expectations.
- Manage, develop, and coach a team of credit risk review professionals, by setting clear performance expectations, providing technical and behavioral feedback, and fostering a culture of challenge, continuous improvement, and alignment with BNY's principles.
- Partner constructively with Risk, Business, Audit, and Compliance stakeholders while preserving independence, by engaging in regular dialogue on emerging risks, tracking remediation of issues, and influencing sustainable enhancements to the credit risk control environment.
To be successful in this role, we're seeking the following:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business, or a related quantitative/analytical field.
- Advanced degree (e.g., MBA, MS in Finance/Risk) and/or relevant professional certifications (e.g., FRM, PRM, CFA, CRC) preferred.
- 12-15 years of experience.
- Credit Officer experience with material individual approval authority in large systemically important banks is preferred.
- Advanced credit risk expertise, including complex counterparty/portfolio analysis, risk frameworks, and regulatory expectations, with the ability to translate this into effective independent review and challenge.
- Advanced credit risk assessment and approval experience in and technical understanding of counterparty credit risk and financial institutions, including hedge funds, private equity and private credit funds, asset managers is required. Expertise in commercial real estate, general corporate credit or securitizations is a plus.
- Strong leadership and stakeholder management capabilities, including leading review teams, influencing senior executives, and managing conflict while maintaining independence of judgment.
- Excellent analytical, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to synthesize complex findings into concise, actionable insights and to set and maintain high standards of review methodology and documentation quality.
