POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Credit Monitoring & Control Specialist will support the Bank's Credit Risk Management/ Risk Analytics Departments, to help analyze, identify, mitigate and control data integrity risk across numerous data elements.
This position is a key role in the Bank's Risk Management Department and reports to the Credit Monitoring & Control Team Lead. Review both traditional and complex credit approval documents (credit underwriting/ loan presentations) for the purpose of:
  • Ensuring proposed loans structures are in compliance with the Bank's credit policy
  • Provide ongoing support to promote portfolio transparency
  • Ensure Quarter End risk reporting processes are done efficiently and accurately; Determining proper note code, collateral code and federal call code for each transaction to ensure accurate reporting to internal and external audiences.
  • Conduct quarterly/monthly reviews of one or more key Credit Risk data elements.
  • Provide support to other functions within the Credit Risk Management/ Risk Analytics Department.
  • Solve a range of straightforward problems.
  • Analyze possible solutions using standard procedures.
  • Participate/lead in projects associated with the department.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Knowledgeable in credit approval process, credit structure and ability to comprehend the Bank's credit policy
  • Familiarity with Federal Call Codes and other related loan codes and the awareness of how loan codes impact financial reporting
  • Experience leading risk and control assessments, root cause analysis and scenario analysis.
  • Ability to partner effectively with peers, senior management and business partners
  • Organizational and problem solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Investigative and questioning nature combined with sound business and technical skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and organize, manage and prioritize multiple deliverables.
  • Strong critical thinking abilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Word required, including analytical skills and spreadsheet experience
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as the ability to present to senior management
  • Have the ability to work independently and within a team
  • Bachelor's degree along with 7-10 years of experience of credit risk, compliance, or audit/ SOX experience in a banking/financial services environment.

At CIBC, we offer a competitive total rewards package. This role has an expected salary range of $70,000 - $85,000 for the market based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit's incentive compensation plan, which may also include a discretionary bonus component.
