A credit risk analyst evaluates the creditworthiness of individuals or businesses seeking loans or credit cards. As a credit risk analyst, you must be systematic and thorough in examining each applicant’s financial information to provide a recommendation of whether or not your employer should grant credit to the applicant. Essentially, you are evaluating the risk to reward ratio of each loan applicant. Your job duties include the analysis of credit scores and credit reports, payment history, bank statements, and other financial statements. Depending on the scope of your job, you may collect this information directly from clients and inform them if the institution can approve or deny their credit or loan application.
| Aspect | Credit Risk Analyst | Credit Analyst |
|---|---|---|
| Primary Focus | Assessing the risk of default on loans and credit products | Evaluating creditworthiness of individual or business applicants |
| Required Credentials | Typically a degree in finance, economics, or related field; certifications like CFA or credit-specific courses | Similar credentials; often the same certifications or degrees |
| Work Environment | Financial institutions, risk management departments | Banks, lending institutions, credit departments |
| Industry Usage | Commonly used in risk assessment and management | Primarily in lending and credit evaluation |
While both roles involve evaluating credit, a Credit Risk Analyst focuses on assessing the overall risk associated with credit portfolios, whereas a Credit Analyst evaluates individual credit applications. The roles often overlap in credentials and work environment, but their specific focus differs within the credit industry.

By partnering with dealerships, we provide financing, personalized service, and professional expertise to five thousand dealers and more than four million customers in over 100 countries around the world. As the Service Provider Oversight Lead, you will support the ongoing management of risks associated with the bank's third-party ecosystem, including services provided by an affiliate. Unlike a policy-setting or audit role, this is an operational, "hands-on" position within the First Line of Defense. You will assist in the day-to-day execution of the Third-Party Risk Management (TPRM) framework, helping ensure external partnerships-from fintech collaborators to critical IT infrastructure providers-operate within the bank's risk appetite and remain in compliance with federal regulations (OCC, Federal Reserve, FDIC).
The position will work closely with Ford Credit's Vendor Management to align and collaborate on process, while conducting oversight of Ford Credit as a Service Provider.
You'll have...
Education: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Risk Management, or a related field or equivalent work experience.
Experience: At least 5 years of experience in the financial services industry, with a minimum of 2 years specifically in Third-Party Risk Management (TPRM), Vendor Management, or Operational Risk within a bank.

What you'll do...
Support the Risk Lifecycle: You will help identify, assess, and support mitigation of risks across the vendor lifecycle, contributing to the bank's "boots on the ground" oversight to help ensure it is as rigorous as its internal controls
Conduct Due Diligence: Perform pre-contract due diligence tasks. You won't just review checklists; you will evaluate a provider's financial health, operational resilience, and cybersecurity posture to help determine fitness for the bank's requirements.
Support Contractual Integrity: Work with Legal and Procurement to help draft and monitor Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). You will help ensure that "Right to Audit" and "Step-in Rights" are documented as actionable tools.
Monitor Performance: Support a continuous monitoring program by tracking and analyzing performance data and SOC reports to help identify "weak signals" of vendor distress or non-compliance before they escalate into systemic issues.
Support Incident Response: Serve as a point of contact for third-party service disruptions or data breaches. You will support the operational response, helping ensure timely remediation and clear communication to the Second Line (Risk/Compliance) and leadership.
Support Business and Risk Alignment: Work with internal business unit leaders to help them achieve their goals through third parties while helping maintain disciplined risk posture.
Support Regulatory Readiness: Help maintain an "always-audit-ready" environment. You will assist with operational queries during regulatory examinations, helping document how the bank manages its third-party exposures on a daily basis.
