Private Credit Valuation Senior Associate

Location: Philadelphia / Hybrid

Role Overview

The Private Credit Valuation Senior Associate is responsible for determining the fair value of private credit investments (credit card portfolios, installment loans, and related financial instruments) both within investment funds and asset manager function. This includes performing valuation analyses on loans and credit instruments, reviewing portfolio company financials, and ensuring valuations comply with accounting and regulatory standards and maximizing the best interests of investors.

Key Responsibilities

1. Private Credit Valuation

  • Perform valuation analysis for private credit investments including credit card and installment loans.
  • Apply valuation methodologies such as:
    • Discounted cash flow (DCF)
    • Yield analysis
    • Comparable credit analysis
  • Assess credit risk, recovery assumptions, and sellers performance.

2. Portfolio Monitoring

  • Analyze portfolios performance on a quarterly basis
  • Track portfolios operating and financial performance and industry trends.
  • Identify valuation triggers such as:
    • credit deterioration
    • covenant breaches
    • refinancing events.

3. Financial Modeling

  • Build and maintain valuation models for private credit instruments.
  • Conduct sensitivity analyses on spreads, delinquency, losses, rewards, customer propositions.
  • Support internal investment teams with pricing analysis.

4. Valuation Governance & Documentation

  • Prepare valuation memos and supporting documentation.
  • Present valuation conclusions to internal valuation committees.

5. Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Work with:
    • Investment teams
    • Portfolio managers
    • Risk teams
    • Fund accounting teams
    • External auditors.

6. Audit & Reporting Support

  • Provide valuation support during quarter-end and year-end reporting.
  • Assist with investor reporting and regulatory disclosures.

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in:
    • Finance
    • Accounting
    • Economics
    • Business or related field.

Experience

  • 4–7 years of experience in:
    • Private credit valuation
    • Credit analysis
    • Fund valuation
    • Investment banking (credit or leveraged finance).

Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of:

    • Valuation models
    • Financial statement analysis
  • Tools:
    • Advanced Excel

Compensation
