We are seeking a proactive, highly analytical professional with strong quantitative judgment and robust communication skills to be accountable for a portfolio of credit line decisions up to $2MM. In this role, you will autonomously manage day-to-day credit evaluations, analyzing both business and personal financial conditions to assess creditworthiness and build comprehensive exposure recommendations. Driven by a high level of curiosity, you will evaluate complex financial statements, merchant spend, revenue sustainability, and overall risk profiles. You will actively collaborate with and present credit decisions to senior approvers, field sales teams, key internal partners, and directly to clients.

General Responsibilities

  • Autonomously and independently manage day-to-day workflow, making well-reasoned credit recommendations on cases up to $2MM exposure.

  • Apply robust judgment and advanced analytical skills to evaluate business performance, revenues, profitability, cash flow, and sustainability against policy guardrails.

  • Utilize a deep understanding of unsecured credit products, credit cards, and credit facilities to assess risk profiles and structure appropriate solutions.

  • Conduct business interviews to understand client business models, sources of revenue, merchant spend, and future projections. Demonstrate exceptional service in all interactions with clients and internal partners.

  • Prepare clear, concise analytical credit memos supporting decisions, identifying key credit risks, establishing mitigants, and articulating strong business rationale for any policy or procedural deviations.

  • Proactively monitor portfolio performance to identify trends and ensure alignment with risk expectations.

  • Adhere to all applicable regulations, policy guidelines, and expected execution standards.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or Military experience

  • At least 2 years of experience in credit underwriting, financial analysis, or commercial lending

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1+ years of experience holding credit granting authority such as: individual signing authority

  • 3+ years of experience with underwriting credit products, business credit cards, or commercial credit facilities.

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

McLean, VA: $96,500 - $110,100 for Sr. Commercial Credit Analyst


Richmond, VA: $87,700 - $100,100 for Sr. Commercial Credit Analyst










Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
