Responsibilities
The Product Specialist-Technical Writer is responsible for working with the marketing and development teams to produce documentation and UX copy, both for new and existing product lines. Documentation includes operator's and programmer's manuals for robotic platforms and products. Copy includes all user-facing text in Hamilton software, such as dialogs and tooltips. The position is also typically the lead on related documentation projects, with responsibilities that typically include setting and meeting deadlines for content delivery and communicating frequently with stakeholders and subject matter experts to generate and review content.
  • Communicate with stakeholders in marketing to determine the scope and requirements for new content.
  • Consult with subject matter experts in research and development to obtain the technical information.
  • Draft new content with attention to a user's level understanding.
  • Follow established corporate brand guidelines while drafting new content and revising existing content.
  • Review all new content with stakeholders and subject matter experts and revise the content accordingly.
  • Push completed content to publication.
  • Manage long-term writing projects to meet intermediate and final deadlines.
  • Assess existing content and technical writing processes for improvement.
  • Assist partner teams with writing-related deliverables on request.

Qualifications
  • Excellent writing and communication skills with a focus on communicating complex concepts in a clear, concise style.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and other publishing/page layout software, graphic editing software, screen capture programs, video editing programs, etc.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects with thorough follow-up and organization of all open and pending activities.
  • Excellent time management, project management, and related organizational skills, including a proactive approach, and a suitable ability to anticipate and manage project life cycle events, issues and obstacles.
  • Ability to build partnerships with cross-functional teams.

Education/Experience
  • Bachelors degree from an accredited, not-for-profit institution, in a technical or Life Science discipline.
  • Minimum of one year of experience with technical documentation or customer requirement and product publications required.
