Job description

Proposal Writer:
A Proposal Writer (PW) analyzes solicitations to include Request for Proposals (RFPs), Request for Quotations (RFQs) to identify requirements for their assigned proposal sections, works with the Proposal Manager to develop/ identify win themes and response strategies. The PW is responsible for developing a perfectly responsive proposal, writing compelling content with ‘value added’ solutions, designing a visually pleasing response and mitigate unresponsive proposals. The PW will collaborate with the proposal team to produce a compliant proposal.
 
Essential Functions: 
  • Research, write, review and edit responses to RFP/RFQs for security and related services.
  • Provide feedback in support of bid/no bid decisions.
  • Managed the RFP/RFQ process from receipt to delivery of proposal, coordinating multiple internal resources to ensure document integrity.
  • Meet deadlines by being capable of prioritizing responsibilities and balancing your workload.
  • Create proposal outline and edit and revise proposals according to notes given by internal subject matter experts (SMEs).
  • Review previous company proposals in order to maintain a sense of consistency.
  • Help create graphics, tables and visuals for certain projects.
  • Prepare compliance matrices.
  • Assist with proposal formatting and production.
  • Maintain database and inventory of proposals to include updating Past Performance Information, Key Personnel resumes, Training Plans, etc.  
  • Review and prepare responses to Sources Sought, Market Surveys and Request for Information (RFIs).
  • Support coordination of further submissions (Q&A, BAFO, Protest, etc.).
  • Update and maintain company capability statement, profile package and website content.
  • Support the coordination and updates for company agreements to include teaming, joint-venture, subcontracting, non-disclosure, consulting, mentor-protégé, licensing agent, etc.
  • Work as part of a team to offer suggestions for improvements or ways to streamline the proposal process.
  • Participate in debriefings and maintain evaluation notes.
  • Give presentations to the executive board.
  • Attend relevant conferences, webinars and workshops.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills:
  • Bachelor's Degree in English or Journalism.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to work on a team or independently.
  • Results oriented professional.
  • Works well in fast paced environments.
  • Have creative writing and descriptive writing skills.
  • Experience leading the authoring of technical documentation.
  • Ability to understand technical discussions to include networking, software applications and databases.
  • Preferably 2-4 years of experience as a writer for Professional Service, government contractor, management, or other related industries.
