The IS Mechanical Designer II will design mechanical systems, components, or assemblies using engineering principles.


  • Works closely with project managers, engineers and contractors to create unique high-level concepts and designs for all assigned projects.
  • Works closely with the team to ensure the successful execution of goals of all assigned projects.
  • Conducts field surveys to identify existing equipment types and system capabilities.
  • Produces design documents including drawings, system flow diagrams and architecture, wiring diagrams, construction details, and equipment scheduling.
  • Delivers concepts and designs according to strict project deadlines.
  • Contributes to all areas of the creative process and department.
  • Performs work under direct supervision.
  • Handles basic issues and problems and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff.
  • Assist with the development of technical reports or related documents.
  • Provides leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring to team members.
  • Other duties as assigned or required.

Required Education, Experience, and Qualifications
  • Associate degree in HVAC Technology, Building Systems Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
  • 2-4 years' experience with building construction, especially mechanical, electrical, plumbing, or automatic temperature controls.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and REVIT

  • HVAC Design and Commissioning experience - Preferred systems include Chilled Water, Heating Water, Condenser Water, and Steam
  • Higher Education and Healthcare design experience

  • 10-25% of time will be spent traveling to job site(s)/office location.
