Join the Ontario Veterinary College's Marketing & Communications team and help share the stories, achievements, research and impact of Canada's top-ranked veterinary college and one of the world's leading institutions in veterinary education and research.
 
Reporting to the Marketing & Communications Officer, the Marketing & Communications Assistant provides operational and creative support for digital marketing, communications and engagement initiatives within OVC. The position supports the development and delivery of digital content, website updates, social media activities and marketing campaigns that enhance OVC's reputation, support student recruitment and engage internal and external audiences. The position supports storytelling initiatives that highlight OVC's programs, research and community impact  The successful candidate is a creative and motivated team player with strong writing and communication skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required.
 
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assisting with the creation and editing of content for OVC websites, newsletters, digital signage and social media platforms
  • Supporting website maintenance and updates, including posting news stories, updating program information and maintaining event listings
  • Drafting written content such as news articles, blog posts, social media content, captions and promotional materials
  • Assisting with photography, videography, graphic design and multimedia content development
  • Ensuring content aligns with University branding and accessibility requirements
  • Supporting the organization and maintenance of digital asset libraries
  • Assisting with content capture at events and activities across OVC
  • Scheduling and publishing content across social media channels
  • Monitoring social media platforms and communication channels for engagement opportunities and inquiries
  • Supporting digital marketing campaigns, recruitment initiatives and awareness campaigns
  • Assisting with social media analytics, digital reporting and campaign performance tracking
  • Supporting the development and distribution of email communications and newsletters
  • Coordinating content submissions and supporting project timelines
  • Assisting with data tracking, reporting and administrative support activities
  • Supporting recruitment, outreach and engagement events
  • Remaining current with marketing and communications trends, tools and best practices

Requirements

  • A two-year community college diploma in marketing, communications, public relations, digital media, journalism or a related field
  • Two years of relevant experience in marketing, communications, or a related field, including co-op or internship experience
  • Experience supporting content creation, writing, social media or multimedia projects
  • Familiarity with website content management systems and social media platforms
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate effectively with a variety of stakeholders
  • A willingness to learn, adapt and contribute in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications

Preferred Qualifications

  • An undergraduate degree in a related field
  • Experience in a post-secondary, healthcare or veterinary environment
