Job description

We are looking for a thoughtful, creative, and success-oriented Business Valuation Intern to delve into the world of business valuation in support of our Valuation Services Group as we work with our clients, predominantly privately held business owners. You will gain hands-on experience with critical business processes as part part of this experience. Our Business Valuation Intern, will bring a passion for analyzing and solving problems, strong attention to detail, an ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines and a natural curiosity about how businesses work. This is a full-time internship opportunity based in our Portland, ME headquarters.

We have openings for:

  • Summer 2027 running from May 25, 2027 through August 6, 2027.

  • Research and Analyze Business Value:  Participate with team members in the assessment and value review of client acquisitions/sales opportunities. Analyze financial and operational readiness to develop your understanding of the valuation process alongside senior staff members.
  • Research Markets: Conduct thorough research on a variety of industry verticals and economic factors impacting clients across markets.
  • Client Interaction: Collaborate with business owners and key decision makers from a wide range of industries, gaining exposure to diverse business practices.
  • Produce reports: Create valuation reports that document value with a high level of detail and professional presentation.
What We Expect from You:

  • Currently enrolled as a student in a Finance, Economics or Business-related program
  • Available to work a minimum of 40 hours per week during the summer session
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.
  • Strong analytical, communication (written & verbal), and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft programs (Work, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

The hourly rate for this role is $30 per hour. This rate range represents BerryDunn’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the possible compensation at the time of posting. If an applicant possesses experience, education, or other qualifications more than the minimum requirements for this posting, that applicant is encouraged to apply, and a final rate may then be based on those additional qualifications; compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The hourly rate for the finalist selected for this role will be based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, years of experience, depth of experience, seniority, merit, education, training, amount of travel, and other relevant business considerations.
