Summary:
The Senior Creative Video Producer is a senior-level creative leader and hands-on producer/director responsible for establishing and executing the creative vision for a wide range of high-profile video and multimedia projects across Penn Medicine. Working within the Penn Medicine Creative Studio and reporting to the Associate Director of Video Production and Creative Operations, this role leads projects from discovery and concept development through production, post-production, and final delivery, translating complex clinical, scientific, institutional, and business priorities into clear, distinctive, emotionally engaging stories that strengthen the Penn Medicine brand and advance organizational goals.The Senior Creative Video Producer serves as the primary creative driver for assigned projects, independently developing concepts and storytelling approaches; directing interviews, on-camera talent, crews, and post-production teams; and guiding internal partners toward effective, audience-centered solutions. The role supports Marketing and Communications as well as partners across the broader health system, including Executive and Internal Communications, Development, clinical and research teams, and other enterprise functions.
Responsibilities:
  • Creative Vision and Concept Development: Owns the creative development of assigned video and multimedia projects, establishing a clear creative vision that responds to audience needs, communications objectives, organizational context, and the Penn Medicine brand. Generates original concepts, treatments, formats, scripts, story structures, storyboards, and visual approaches for projects ranging from enterprise brand storytelling and campaigns to executive, internal, development, clinical, research, social, digital, and event content.
  • End-to-End Producing, Directing, and Editorial Leadership: Leads complex projects from initial discovery through final delivery, including research, scoping, pre-production, interview development, production planning, directing, post-production, stakeholder review, and versioning. Transforms complex medical, scientific, institutional, and business subject matter into accessible, accurate, and emotionally resonant stories. Directs patients, families, physicians, researchers, staff, executives, on-camera talent, crews, and vendors with strong creative judgment, empathy, and professionalism, including in sensitive clinical and documentary environments.
  • Creative Direction, Production Technology, and Post-Production: Establishes and maintains the visual, editorial, and tonal direction of each project. Provides clear, actionable creative direction to cinematographers, editors, motion designers, audio professionals, composers, photographers, freelancers, agencies, and other collaborators. Provides senior-level guidance on production equipment procurement, configuration, management, maintenance, and appropriate field use. Reviews work throughout production and post-production to ensure the final product achieves the intended creative vision and meets a consistently high standard of craft.
  • Strategic Partnership and Integrated Content Development: Serves as a trusted creative partner to Marketing and Communications and to stakeholders across the broader health system. Helps partners define the underlying communications challenge, recommends the appropriate storytelling solution rather than simply executing a requested tactic, and pitches, presents, and advocates for creative concepts and production solutions with internal and external partners. Collaborates with design, copy, editorial, social, digital, public relations, internal communications, executive communications, development, and agency partners to extend cohesive ideas effectively across channels, audiences, formats, aspect ratios, and lengths.
  • Project and Creative Studio Leadership, Innovation, and Responsible AI: Leads multidisciplinary project teams and coordinates internal staff, contractors, crews, vendors, locations, schedules, budgets, releases, licensing, equipment, and production logistics. Independently manages multiple complex assignments, anticipates risks, and makes sound decisions that protect creative quality, timelines, resources, privacy, safety, and organizational reputation. Mentors colleagues, elevates creative standards, improves workflows, and identifies proactive storytelling opportunities. Evaluates and uses artificial intelligence responsibly and develops and applies tools, automations, techniques, and workflows that improve efficiency and production quality while maintaining human creative judgment, accuracy, privacy, security, accessibility, copyright compliance, and Penn Medicine policies. Performs duties in accordance with Penn Medicine values, policies, brand standards, HIPAA and privacy obligations, and copyright and licensing requirements

Education or Equivalent Experience:
  • H.S. Diploma/GED (Required)
  • And 6+ years Progressively responsible professional experience producing and directing high-quality video or multimedia content, including significant responsibility for creative development, directing, and complex project leadership. Demonstrated experience coordinating complex productions involving multiple stakeholders, vendors, budgets, and timelines. (Required) 10+ years preferred.
  • Bachelor of Arts or Science Film, television, communications, journalism, media production, marketing, or related field (Preferred)
  • And 6+ years Progressively responsible professional experience producing and directing high-quality video or multimedia content, including significant responsibility for creative development, directing, and complex project leadership. Demonstrated experience coordinating complex productions involving multiple stakeholders, vendors, budgets, and timelines. (Preferred)
