Creative Dining is hiring immediately for a full-time Baker.

  • Location: 3201 Burton St SE Grand Rapids, MI 49546
  • Schedule: Full time schedule; open availability preferred
  • Requirement: 1-2 years of experience required.
  • Pay Range: $16-18

Job Summary

The Baker in the Dining Services Department ensures the production of high-quality, nutritious food, while adhering to safety and fiscal guidelines. Works as a collaborative team member to support the dining services program.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities

  • Time Management: Ensure food is ready on time for service.
  • Food Preparation: Follow recipes to maintain food quality and appeal.
  • Batch Cooking: Use techniques to avoid over or underproduction.
  • Food Safety: Follow safe food handling practices at all times.
  • Storage: Label and store food properly, maintaining freshness.
  • Temperature Control: Ensure food is stored and served at correct temperatures.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain production and temperature logs.
  • Cleanliness: Keep work area sanitized and organized.
  • Kitchen Operations: Open/close kitchen as needed, manage equipment.
  • Safety: Maintain a safe environment, clean up spills, wear protective gear.
  • Communication: Address food production needs and concerns with supervisor.
  • Equipment Monitoring: Report equipment issues promptly.
  • Team Support: Assist colleagues in kitchen tasks.
  • Inventory: Help with ordering and inventory management.
  • Waste Removal: Dispose of refuse as needed.
  • Stock Management: Put away or pull stock as necessary.
