Job description

Company Overview

PDO is an award-winning interior architecture and design firm with a full-time opportunity in our Phoenix-metro office for an energetic, driven and creative Project Designer. This individual should have excellent AutoCAD and Sketch Up skills and 3-5 years in the commercial interior design sector. In this position, you will collaborate with and be an integral part of the interior design team, supporting both development of interior design efforts and implementation of that vision.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and document leading edge, innovative interior design solutions for corporate workplace interiors.

  • Research concepts and materials to advise and support design team on technical issues influencing interior design concept development. Create mood boards, finish plans, digital design boards and graphics to support design presentations in Power Point, InDesign, Canva or other.

  • Create 3-D renderings to communicate design intent in Sketch Up (Vray) and/or Revit (Enscape).

  • Programming client spaces and participate in visioning sessions to help clients determine spatial needs.

  • Area calculations for leasable space. Lease sheets, demising plans, BOMA calculations.

  • Ability to space plan small and large spaces and accurately demonstrate building code knowledge.

  • Produce pricing plans, construction documents and help the team with production on various project types. Heavy production can be typical during busier seasons.

  • Conduct on-site observations, dimensioning spaces, as-builts and site walks.

  • Review shop drawing submittals, RFIs, site clarifications and bidding/negotiation questions.

  • Submit plans and drawings to appropriate city jurisdictions and handle city comments.

  • Job walks on site, owners calls and overall construction administration to observe compliance with construction documents. Create punch lists, coordinate close out documents and scheduling final photography of spaces when appropriate.

  • Participate in collective effort to gather social media content of job site walks, design process for submittal to social media consultant.

  • Assist with general project management skills including but not limited to: development and tracking of budgets, schedules and staffing. Ability to track and understand individual as well as supporting team members time spent to ensure the financial success of the project.

  • Assist with contractual agreements with the ability to accurately estimate time required per phase of project through fee proposal / preparation.

  • Assist in marketing efforts and general events that help grow / positively position the business including vendor events, team events, charitable events, etc. Some events are extracurricular and promote personal and professional growth.

Qualifications

Preferred candidates will have:

  • Location in Phoenix-metro area, AZ (office is located in Scottsdale, AZ)

  • Excellent AutoCAD and Sketch Up Skills (and/or Revit)

  • Excellent presentation, communication and follow through skills

  • Excellent problem-solving abilities

  • Ability to work within deadlines in a very fast paced, multi-faceted environment

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree from an accredited Interior Design or Architecture program required

  • 3-5 years of architectural interiors experience in a corporate workplace

  • Experience with space planning, design detailing, finish and furniture selections, and construction documentation

  • Technical skills including 3D visualization and knowledge of modeling programs a ++

  • NCIDQ certification a ++

  • LEED and WELL certification a ++

  • Revit skills a ++

  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment

  • Exhibits a passion for design and innovation and thought leadership regarding workplace strategy
