Job description


JOB SUMMARY

The Food Services Program Director oversees the daily operations and compliance of the Child Nutrition Program at Boys & Girls Clubs of the Valley (BGCAZ). This role manages the federally sponsored food program at 15+ Club sites and provides training and oversight for all 30+ sites serving youth meals. The Program Manager supports meal program quality, ensures adherence to regulatory standards, coordinates vendor partnerships, and drives process improvements that support program growth.

KEY ROLES (Essential Job Reponsiblitlies)

  • § Manages daily operations and compliance of the federally funded Child Nutrition Program at 15+ sponsored Club sites
  • § Leads monthly reimbursement claims; maintain audit-ready records and ensure compliance with USDA and state regulations
  • § Coordinates with vendors on meal orders, delivery issues, and adjustments to reduce waste and improve revenue
  • § Conducts regular visits to Club sites to monitor food safety, provide coaching, and support program implementation.
  • § Provides training, tools, and resources to staff to ensure consistent program delivery, food safety and compliance.
  • § Tracks and compiles meal service data for reporting, grant documentation, and internal evaluation.
  • § Cultivates collaborative relationships with community partners
  • § Supports procurement and distribution of food program-related supplies and donated items.
  • § Identifies and implements improvements to streamline processes and increase program effectiveness.
  • § Collaborates with leadership to support program expansion and the onboarding of new sites or systems.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE, LICENSURE and CERTIFICATION

  • § Must possess a HS diploma or equivalency certificate
  • § 2+ years of professional experience in grant management, program compliance, or related fields
  • § Must obtain/maintain a CPR, First Aid, and Food Manger’s Certification (within first 90 days of employment)
  • § Must have and maintain a valid Arizona driver’s license

KNOWLEDGE, ABILITY and SKILLS

  • § Knowledge of food safety regulations and practices.
  • § Strong organizational and time management skills; able to manage multiple responsibilities and deadlines.
  • § Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • § Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, including vendors, site supervisors, and community partners.
  • § Ability to organize and maintain large amounts of data and documents
  • § Ability to understand, implement, and teach federal and state requirements
  • § Skilled in identifying operational improvements and implementing new practices.
  • § Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel and Outlook).
  • § Ability to develop and provide training or coaching staff in operational or field-based settings


WORKING CONDITIONS and DRIVING

  • § Occasional evening hours required as needed for monitoring visits
  • § Frequent travel to Club sites and partner locations required.
  • § Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs. and conduct site visits in various indoor and outdoor conditions.
  • § Work is performed in both office and field environments.
