Job description

Position Overview

This position oversees the management of all related areas of manufacturing to produce products and direct activities for cards and may include other related products. The responsibilities will be all approved products are manufactured on schedule, within the quality standards of the company and customer ensuring cost effective measures are implemented. Will ensure increased level of customer and employee satisfaction while improving efficiency of manpower, materials and equipment.

The Production Manager will work onsite 5 days a week out of our office in Somerset, NJ from.

Key Responsibilities 1. Supervision
  • Assist senior staff members in the development and formulation of long and short-range planning, policies, programs and objectives.
  • Manages policy deployment in the areas of lean manufacturing techniques, quality, cost reduction, and on-time delivery.
  • Identifies, recommends and implements changes to improve productivity and reduce cost and scrap, monitor scrap and rework data. Directs the establishment, implementation and maintenance of production standards.
  • Hires, trains, develops and evaluates staff. Takes corrective action as necessary on a timely basis and in accordance with company policy. Ensures compliance with current federal, state and local regulations. Consults with Human Resources Department as appropriate.
  • Directs and monitors department supervisors to accomplish goals of the manufacturing plan consistent with established manufacturing and safety procedures.
  • Acts as a liaison between department supervisors and subordinate levels, as well as executive/department manager levels to inform personnel of communications, decisions, policies and all matters that affect performance, attitude and results.
  • Achieves optimum employee levels with least amount of overhead and raw material costs to meet annual budgetary plan.
  • Ensure efficient staffing and equipment utilization of all production equipment.
  • Ensure production schedule is adhered to and that operators are properly trained to perform their duties in a safe and efficient manner and in accordance with applicable quality standards.
  • Provides leadership for employee relations through effective communications, coaching, training and development.
2. Production
  • Responsible for all production of cards.
  • Ensure job work orders and production schedules are available and properly utilized by all production personnel.
  • Ensure all operating procedures are aligned with the company's safety and security programs. Maintain and promote safe practices and procedures.
Other Important Responsibilities
  • Develop an operator cross training program which optimizes labor availability and utilization.
  • Establish and maintain an operations dashboard of key performance indicators which provides the vehicle for department objectives and improvement initiatives such as process yield, on-time delivery, machine efficiency, etc.
  • Monitor production performance and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Will be required to perform other job functions, as assigned.
Qualifications
  • A minimum 10 years (or more) of relevant experience
  • Ability to relate to employees and understand their needs.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to self-check own work.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Task oriented excellent organizational skills, ability to prioritize work load;
  • Enthusiastic attitude, cooperative team player, adaptable to new or changing circumstances, professional demeanor, sensitive to client needs, self-motivated, creative and innovative.
  • Excellent problem solving skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs;
  • Must be able to sustain office work as needed including the following:
    • Sitting/standing as needed
    • Computer skills required
    • Telephone usage
  • Must be able to sustain factory work for 8+ hours per day as required including the following:
    • Standing at machinery
    • Reaching and pulling to operate machinery
    • Sight for machinery operation
    • Walking through shop
  • For the most part, the position is exposed to ambient room temperatures, lighting and traditional office equipment as found in a typical office environment.
  • Production floor exposure that require the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) ie: safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves etc.
  • This job operates in a professional office environment. The role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machine.
