Job description

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

The University Athletic Association at the University of Florida is searching for an Associate Director to provide day-to-day creative leadership for Florida Athletics and helps translate the department's brand strategy into consistent, high-quality content across sports, platforms, and campaigns. Reporting to the Director of Creative Media & Branding, this position serves as a working creative who leads projects from concept through delivery, provides creative direction and quality control, and remains an active contributor in design and content development. The position collaborates with leaders and staff across social media, graphic design and branding, photography, creative video, football creative, marketing, communications, sponsorship, ticketing, licensing, recruiting, and NIL creative strategy to ensure work is coordinated, purposeful, audience-aware, and aligned with the Florida Gators brand.

This position requires the incumbent to demonstrate sound judgment, initiative, organization, attention to detail, and a commitment to continuous learning and professional growth; have a strong understanding of visual identity systems, typography, layout, image selection, production standards, and design for digital, social, environmental, and print applications; be able to provide creative direction, communicate feedback, collaborate across teams, and build productive relationships with a wide range of partners; work independently and as part of a collaborative team in a fast-paced environment; manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively; communicate and engage effectively with individuals of diverse cultures, backgrounds, and working styles; and work a non-standard work week that will include nights, weekends, holidays, and overnight travel.

MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, Communications, Marketing, Digital Media, or a related field*
  • Three years of progressively responsible experience in creative services, graphic design, content development, brand marketing, or a related field*
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex creative projects from concept through delivery and managing multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment
  • Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and working knowledge of After Effects, Premiere Pro, Acrobat, or comparable creative tools
  • Working knowledge of major social media platforms, platform-specific creative practices, and emerging content trends

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Portfolio of integrated creative work that demonstrates strong concept development, brand consistency, and platform-aware execution
  • Experience working in an intercollegiate or professional athletic environment or a creative agency, entertainment, or high-volume brand environment
  • Experience supervising, mentoring, or developing full-time staff, interns, graduate assistants, or student creatives
  • Experience supporting recruiting, sponsorship, ticket sales, licensing, NIL, athlete branding, or other revenue-related initiatives
  • Experience using audience insights or performance data to inform creative decisions and improve content effectiveness
  • Working knowledge of photography, video production, motion design, digital asset management, and project management systems
