What does a creative production assistant do?

A Creative Production Assistant supports the creative team throughout the production process, handling tasks such as organizing schedules, coordinating resources, assisting with set preparation, and managing communication between departments. They may help with administrative duties, set logistics, and ensuring that all creative materials and equipment are available when needed. This role is essential for keeping projects on track and supporting the smooth execution of creative campaigns or productions.

How does a creative production assistant typically collaborate with other team members on a project?

Creative Production Assistants work closely with creative directors, designers, producers, and sometimes clients to help bring a project from concept to completion. They often manage schedules, coordinate logistics, and support communication between departments to ensure everyone is aligned on project goals and deadlines. This role requires strong organizational skills and adaptability, as priorities can shift quickly in a fast-paced creative environment. Effective collaboration is key, so being proactive in offering support and maintaining clear communication helps keep projects running smoothly.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a creative production assistant, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Creative Production Assistant, you need strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a background in media, communications, or a related field. Familiarity with project management tools, digital asset management systems, and basic proficiency in creative software like Adobe Creative Suite are typically expected. Job description

Firstport Company is looking for an Assistant Graphic Designer to join our growing creative team. This is a hands-on role for someone with a strong eye for design, an interest in apparel and vintage sportswear, and the ability to turn creative concepts into production-ready graphics.

Youโ€™ll work closely with our Creative Director and team across Firstport collections, custom collegiate and team apparel, collaborations, and day-to-day creative projects.

About Firstport

Firstport is a Connecticut-based apparel brand inspired by vintage sportswear, collegiate graphics, and the places and communities people feel connected to. In addition to our own collections, we create custom apparel for collegiate teams, organizations, brands, and partners across the country.

We're a small, growing team, so you'll have the opportunity to work across a wide range of projects, see your designs become physical products, and grow alongside the brand.

What You'll Do
  • Assist in designing graphics for apparel, including sweatshirts, tees, mocknecks, hats, and more
  • Create and revise designs and proofs for custom collegiate and team orders
  • Support graphics for Firstport collections, product drops, and collaborations
  • Prepare, clean up, and vectorize artwork for production
  • Create print-ready files for screen printing, embroidery, and other production methods
  • Help maintain consistency across Firstport's typography, colors, graphics, and overall brand identity
  • Research vintage sportswear, collegiate graphics, typography, and other design references
  • Work closely with our creative and production teams to bring designs from concept to finished product
  • Organize and maintain graphic files, logos, templates, fonts, and other creative assets
What We're Looking For
  • Strong proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
  • Strong understanding of typography, layout, color, and composition
  • Ability to vectorize and prepare artwork for production
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to take direction and turn feedback into revisions quickly
  • Organized and comfortable working on multiple projects at once
  • Collaborative, dependable, and excited to work within a growing small business
  • Interest in apparel, vintage sportswear, collegiate design, fashion, and branding

Experience designing for apparel, screen printing, fashion, sports, or lifestyle brands is a plus.

A degree in Graphic Design or a related field is welcome, but a strong portfolio and design ability are most important to us.
