Job description

KLAS-TV the CBS affiliate in Las Vegas, Nevada,a #DigitalFirst operation with a focus on delivering local content 24/7 across all platformsis recruiting for an assertive, multi-talented journalist to serve as a Reporter/Multimedia Journalist.

You must be able to shoot, write and edit your own reports within daily deadlines, while also populating content on digital and social platforms. We want someone who fights for the lead story, brings great story ideas to the meetings, cultivates sources, and wins the story each day on ALL platforms. You must have strong storytelling skills and an energetic/creative delivery. We are looking for someone who is enterprising and passionate about news.

MMJ experience is required. College degree and a minimum of two years television news reporting experience preferred.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Pitch unique stories that will get results and drive ratings.
  • Develop and execute enterprise content on a consistent basis.
  • Cover breaking news with a sense of urgency.
  • Establish and maintainrelationships/sourcesin the community.
  • Produce content for our website and digital channels.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Ensures that all content meets company standards for journalistic integrity and production quality.
  • Interacts with viewers/users on social media sites.
  • Performs special projects and other duties as assigned.

Requirements & Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education.
  • A minimum of 2-years professional MMJ experience.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written with the ability to ad lib when required.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Valid driver's license with a good driving record. Any job offer is conditional upon satisfactorily completing a background and DMV check.
  • Flexibility to work any shift, including nights, weekends and holidays.

Physical Demands & Work Environment:
The Reporter/Multimedia Journalist must be able to sit, conduct telephone conversations, use electronic mail, write letters and memos, conduct face-to-face discussions with individuals or groups, make decisions without supervision, make decisions that impact the results of co-workers, work outdoors occasionally in all weather conditions, and work indoors in environmentally controlled conditions. In addition, the Reporter/Multimedia Journalist must be able to lift, set up and operate equipment weighing up to 25 pounds, and be able to handle, control or feel objects, tools or controls. Repetitive movements are required. Work may be conducted in extremely bright or inadequate lighting conditions.
