Creative Movement information

What is creative movement?

Creative movement is a form of expressive physical activity that encourages participants, often children, to explore and communicate ideas, emotions, and stories through movement. Unlike traditional dance classes focused on technique, creative movement emphasizes improvisation, imagination, and personal interpretation. It is commonly used in educational settings to support physical development, creativity, and social skills. Activities may include guided exercises, free movement to music, and collaborative group work. Creative movement can benefit people of all ages by promoting body awareness, coordination, and self-expression.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a creative movement instructor?

To thrive as a Creative Movement Instructor, you need a solid understanding of movement principles, dance or physical education training, and experience working with diverse age groups. Familiarity with music editing software, classroom management systems, and relevant certifications such as CPR or dance instruction credentials is beneficial. Creativity, patience, and strong communication skills help instructors engage participants and foster a supportive learning environment. These skills ensure safe, effective, and inspiring sessions that promote physical development and self-expression.

How does a creative movement instructor typically collaborate with other educators or staff within a school or community program?

Creative Movement instructors often work closely with classroom teachers, counselors, and program coordinators to integrate movement activities that support broader learning objectives and student development. Collaboration may involve co-planning lessons, adapting activities for diverse abilities, and aligning movement sessions with curriculum themes or social-emotional learning goals. This teamwork ensures that Creative Movement is an engaging and inclusive experience that complements other educational or community efforts. Regular communication and feedback with colleagues are key to delivering effective, well-rounded programming.

This role partners closely with the Director of Content, Brand Marketing, and cross-functional teams to keep the content execution and pipeline organized, on schedule, and grounded in performance data.
Key Responsibilities:
Content Process, Planning & Trafficking
  • Champion content processes and workflows, and identify bottlenecks across the pipeline (production, trafficking, publishing); propose fixes to increase speed and output quality
  • Support the briefing, tracking, trafficking, and edit process of all content and deliverables across channels, from shoots, influencers, partnerships, and UGC/earned to the appropriate channel owners and platforms, working in partnership with Brand Marketing
  • Coordinate and lead recurring sync meetings with appropriate cross-functional partners to support content processes and upcoming needs
  • Coordinate and lead content intake and asset management across channels to align on timing, priorities, and asset needs
  • Own and maintain the content channel matrix, ensuring channel roles, formats, content types, and specs are kept current as platform needs evolve and new priorities emerge; serve as the operational source of truth for how content is mapped across channels
  • Oversee the Air DAM system, including the IP and usage rights process, user access and permissions, file hygiene (naming conventions, metadata tagging, archiving cadence), and usage rights/licensing documentation - ensuring cross-functional partners follow established processes for the content within their ownership

Shoot & Production Support
  • Support pre-production planning, including creative briefs, shot lists, mood boards, and shoot schedules, in partnership with the Director of Content, brand team, and cross-functional partners
  • Support coordination of shoot operations, including location, vendors, and talent/crew logistics, scouting, bookings, contracts, releases, and call sheets
  • Coordinate and manage recurring sync meetings including content and calendar reviews, shoot planning, and post-production editing
  • Track production timelines, budgets, and vendor/contractor deliverables
  • Manage the post-shoot asset pipeline
  • Run quality control and coordination on delivered assets against the shot list and brief before handoff to editing and channel owners

Content & Creative Analysis
  • Analyze content performance across paid and organic channels to identify what's working and translate that into recommendations for immediate optimizations, while supporting future calendar planning and creative briefs
  • Monitor competitive and category content trends to flag emerging formats and creative opportunities
  • Run post-shoot and post-campaign post-mortems to capture what worked and feed learnings for upcoming projects and briefs

Qualifications & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Media Production, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 4-6 years of experience in content operations, production coordination, marketing operations, or a related content management role
  • Experience managing digital asset management (DAM) systems, file organization, and usage rights/licensing workflows
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple content workstreams and cross-functional stakeholders simultaneously
  • Experience analyzing content or campaign performance data (paid and/or organic) and translating insights into actionable recommendations
  • Familiarity with production and shoot logistics (scheduling, vendor/talent coordination, budgets) strongly preferred
  • Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills; comfortable operating as a central point of coordination across teams
  • Proficiency with content calendar, project management, and DAM tools (e.g., Air, Asana, or similar platforms)

Compensation & Benefits:
  • Compensation range: $85,522 to $97,282, based on experience
  • Bonus eligibility based on performance
  • Monthly cell phone stipend
  • 401(k) with employer match
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
