Job description

Punahou School continues to recognize the richness of its traditions, as well as its ongoing responsibility to deliver a relevant educational experience in a rapidly changing world. Through co-curricular programming, we seek to cultivate curious, confident, creative, and collaborative students who are encouraged to explore their voices, build confidence, and develop meaningful connections with others.

Punahou's Co-Curricular Theatre Program is seeking a grades K-3 Drama/Theatre Teacher to support early elementary students through creative drama, storytelling, movement, imaginative play, ensemble-building, and age-appropriate performance activities. This position is ideal for a teacher who enjoys working with young children in a creative, playful, and structured environment; has strong classroom management and communication skills; and can create a warm, engaging space where students feel safe to participate, take creative risks, and express themselves.


Position Details:

  • Work Year: 9 Months
  • School Year: 2026-2027
  • Work Hours: Variable schedule: Monday - Friday, 2:00 PM - 3:30 PM, Schedule may vary based on operational needs.
  • Hourly Rate: $35.00/Hour


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
  • Experience teaching or working with early elementary students required.
  • Experience in theatre, creative drama, performing arts education, elementary education, or a related field preferred.
  • Strong classroom management, communication, collaboration, and organizational skills required.
  • Ability to lead age-appropriate drama activities that support creativity, confidence, collaboration, and social-emotional growth.
Employment Type: Part Time Less Than 20 Hours
