Job description

Broadcast Technical Director

KOAT, the Hearst affiliate in Albuquerque, NM, has an opening for an experienced Technical Director for our station's live newscasts and Master control operations. Technical Directors have knowledge of broadcast operations and production activities. You will work in the studio, running the robotic cameras and setting up for live broadcast. You will work in the Master Control overseeing the playlist, ingesting and checking promotion videos and commercial and network content, and dialing in live shots. You will report to the News Production Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Running the robotic cameras during the newscast
  • Oversee the setup of the studio prior to the newscast
  • Provide creative input and will work with the newscast producer and production crew
  • Responsible for a clean technical execution of the look of the newscast
  • Run day-to-day operations in Master Control
  • Responsible for running breaks during network broadcasts

Requirements

  • Previous experience working as a technical director at a commercial television station
  • Experience operating several broadcast pieces of equipment
  • Can deal with the stresses and pressures of time-sensitive newscast production
  • Must be willing to work mornings and provide backup on holidays and vacations
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Experience with television master control operations
  • Experience with ENPS, VIZ RT graphics, and Bitcentral video playback will be helpful
  • Related military experience will be considered
