Job description

About Sesame

Sesame believes in a future where computers are lifelike - with the ability to see, hear, and collaborate with us in ways that feel natural and human. With this vision, we're designing a new kind of computer, focused on making voice agents part of our daily lives. Our team brings together founders from Oculus and Ubiquity6, alongside proven leaders from Meta, Google, and Apple, with deep expertise spanning hardware and software. Join us in shaping a future where computers truly come alive.

About the Role

We’re looking for a Creative Director to define what Sesame looks, sounds, and feels like in the world. This is a rare opportunity to shape a consumer brand from day one, and create a new category of wearables that people will truly love to wear.

You’ll be our first creative leader: a player-coach who makes the work and multiplies it. The canvas is unusually wide. One week you're pitching and art directing a launch film; the next you're perfecting assets for the App Store, shaping an experiential activation, or briefing a world‑class agency on a collaboration that places Sesame in culture. We believe brands are felt in the small surfaces as much as the big ones, and we're looking for someone who treats a beautiful email with the same obsession as a billboard.

You’re the right person for this role if you love to concept, pitch, and create a culture of break‑glass ideas - and can actually make things happen, whether that’s through scrappy productions or with industry‑leading partners. In this role, you’ll run a mini in‑house content studio while directing external agency partners, and your best ideas will travel through paid channels as powerfully as they do organically. You have a distinctive editorial voice, a portfolio with real range, and a passion for building consumer brands. You are excited to partner with Product and Industrial Design to make creative the heart and soul of Sesame.

Responsibilities
  • Own creative direction across the full funnel: campaigns, editorial content, social, experiential activations, paid amplification, web, and more.
  • Make work yourself — concept, write, and art direct — while raising the bar for everything you don’t personally touch.
  • Build and run a mini in‑house content studio: manage an internal creative or freelance team, and establish the workflows and production rhythms to ship consistently at a high bar.
  • Manage external agencies and production partners from concept to final delivery.
  • Develop brand collaborations that build Sesame’s world and earn cultural relevance.
  • Partner with Product and Industrial Design to keep one coherent creative language across our app, our hardware, and every channel in between.
  • Partner with brand and product marketing to develop campaigns and content that delights users and breaks through in culture.
Required Qualifications
  • 8+ years of creative experience with consumer brands, and a portfolio demonstrating exceptional craft, taste, and range — editorial, campaign, social, and ideally experiential.
  • Hands‑on authorship: work you personally wrote, art directed, or edited — not only oversaw.
  • Experience directing external agencies, production partners, or freelancers.
  • In‑house experience at a consumer brand (agency experience is welcome, but not agency‑only).
  • Comfort partnering with product and growth marketing teams.
  • Based in or willing to relocate to San Francisco or New York (NYC‑based candidates should expect to travel to SF as needed).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience building or running an in‑house creative or content studio, including managing creatives.
  • Proven fluency in paid‑channel creative (paid social, app install, OOH amplification) and iterating against results.
  • A track record of brand collaborations or cultural partnerships.
  • Roots in premium worlds — fashion, luxury, media/publishing, or culture‑forward DTC — paired with comfort operating at startup pace.
  • 0 to 1 experience launching a brand or product.
  • Experience with both software and hardware consumer products.

Sesame is committed to a workplace where everyone feels valued, respected, and empowered. We welcome all qualified applicants, embracing diversity in race, gender, identity, orientation, ability, and more. We provide reasonable accommodations for applicants with disabilities. Contact careers@sesame.com for assistance.

Full‑time Employee Benefits
  • 401 (k) max employer match: 3.5% of compensation
  • 100% employer‑paid health, vision, and dental benefits for you and your dependents
  • Unlimited PTO and sick time
  • Flexible spending account with employer matching up to $1,650/year (medical FSA)
  • Guardian Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
  • Opportunity to share in the company's success with competitive stock options

Benefits do not apply to contingent/contract workers.
