About the American Song Archives: The American Song Archives (ASA) in Tulsa, Oklahoma is the home of the archives of Bob Dylan, Woody Guthrie, Phil Ochs, Tom Paxton, Cynthia Gooding and many other archival and library collections. The ASA welcomes visitors from around the world to the Woody Guthrie Center and Bob Dylan Center-located in Tulsa's vibrant Arts District and adjacent to the historic Greenwood District-and hosts academics and writers who utilize the archives for research.


Position Purpose: The Communications Coordinator provides strategic vision and activation for digital communications across American Song Archives. The position will be responsible for maximizing awareness for the organization externally while internally managing communications for publication. This job is full-time with benefits based in Tulsa, OK. 

The Communications Coordinator plays a critical role in connecting audiences to the center's collections, stories, educational programs and mission. Through strategic digital communications, creative storytelling, and innovative audience engagement, this position helps ensure the centers' continued growth, relevance and impact for future generations. This position reports to the Senior Digital Content Strategist.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Editing, copywriting, brainstorming ideas etc.
  • Executing email marketing deliverables using Wordfly, including monthly newsletters for the Woody Guthrie Center and Bob Dylan Center.
  • Social posting (working with Senior Digital Content Strategist to create content and approvals.
  • Social moderation (responding to comments, messages, and mentions as needed.
  • Assist with occasional website updates in WordPress and Webflow websites.
  • Maintain dynamic onsite marketing signage to promote events, merch, and memberships to center visitors.
  • Press coordination meetings and releases- Agency and internal stakeholders.
  • Coordination, setting up signage, booking space, insurance etc.
  • Reviewing all materials and content created by team for promotions.
  • Managing promotional events and campaigns.
  • Creating the communications strategy.
  • Strategizing to improve the company's brand image.
  • Monitoring the company's online presence and reputation.
  • Fielding inquiries from the media or the public.
  • Evaluating communication strategies and campaigns to determine their effectiveness.
  • Develop and manage digital ad budgets.
  • Monitor ROI and performance metrics across campaigns, pages, and promotions.
  • Ensure efficient use of internal and external resources.
  • Act as steward of Woody Guthrie Center and Bob Dylan Center brands, enforcing brand guidelines and standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.


REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience

  • B.A. with relevant concentration.
  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience in a professional environment. 
  • Proven success in developing integrated marketing and communications strategies.
  • Strong knowledge of social media and content strategy.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Skills and Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and social platforms.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a flexible, collaborative team environment with a dynamic range of events and people.
  • Must be a skilled communicator with an understanding of audience, style and digital engagement strategies.
  • Ability to work independently and think proactively to perform and adapt in a fast-paced environment without losing sight of the deadlines and details.

Preferred

  • Familiarity with graphic design and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Familiarity with Wordfly and Tessitura. 
  • Experience within museums, archives, cultural institutions, performing arts organizations, music organizations, or nonprofit environments.
  • Knowledge of music history, archival collections and cultural heritage preservation.
  • Experience with membership, fundraising and donor communications.
  • Familiarity with center audience development and visitor engagement strategies.


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time and lift up to 30lbs.


Hours & Location

  • This is a full-time, in-person position. Regular work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M., based in Tulsa, OK at the American Song Archives offices.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed for events, programs, exhibitions, and special initiatives.
  • Travel may be required.
