Job description

The San Francisco Friends School (SFFS), located in the heart of the Mission District in San Francisco, educates K-8 students in the tradition of Quaker learning. The school seeks teachers who resonate with the San Francisco Friends School mission, which provides an exemplary education in a community dedicated to problem-solving, service to others, simplicity, social justice, and quiet reflection. Overview of Responsibilities
Substitute teachers demonstrate a potential to serve students in all grades K through 8 in various subjects where needed. This role reports to the Division Heads. Responsibilities will include the following:
  • Lead or support instruction across various grade levels as needed (either grades K-4 or grades 5-8)
  • Execute the teacher's lesson plans and report back to the teacher any concerns or issues from the day
  • Offer social-emotional learning support for students and manage student and classroom behavior
  • Assist with various duties and provide support for teachers and students as needed
  • Accompany students and attend some specialist classes, as needed
  • Provide short-term coverage for Lead Teachers or Assistant Teachers, as needed
  • Collaborate with partner teacher and/or grade level team to ensure consistency of instruction and student expectations

Additional responsibilities may be considered based on individual interests and experience. We seek to staff our school with educators who are:

Compensation:
$200 daily rate for a full day above 4.25 hours. $26.67 per hour if working under 4 hours/day.
