JOB SUMMARY:
The Utah Jazz and Utah Mammoth - franchises of Smith Entertainment Group (SEG) are seeking a Creative Copywriter Intern. This position will primarily focus on writing and editing a wide variety of short-form and long-form content for Utah Mammoth and Utah Jazz. Content may include in-arena placements, broadcast commercials, marketing emails, corporate presentations, app notifications, SMS marketing messages, and other related communications. The right person for this position must be a master of their craft, well-versed in the English language, and able to communicate with correct grammar, clearly, and creatively. The Creative Copywriter Intern should be able to learn and adapt to the voice of the organization's team brands. This person should be able to see a project from concept to completion and bring new ideas to the creative voice of the team. In this role, you will need to have a good sense of creative and effective communication, take direction, be open to notes, and be versatile. You'll be able to combine your passion for sports with writing. This is a part-time position (30 hours per week) on the creative services team within the Marketing department. The internship will last 12 months.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Work with marketing leadership to support overarching brand goals through creative writing and copywriting.
  • Create meaningful and effective campaigns for all media: print, digital, email, video, experience, etc.
  • Write strategic and meaningful headlines, scripts, and copy with a keen awareness of the intended audience.
  • Support the partnerships team by writing engaging and persuasive scripts, VOs, and stories for commercial shoots and related sponsored assets.
  • Assist in the development of strategic presentations to sell innovative ideas and move key brand initiatives forward.
  • Lead the creation and proofreading of marketing materials to ensure the highest quality standard of writing. Create persuasive scripts, anthems, mantras, and other related written materials for annual marketing campaigns.
  • Thoroughly revise and edit copy for all media by providing proper grammar, spell-checking, and writing conventions.
  • Develop and maintain a copywriting handbook, which includes general grammar guidelines for the marketing team to reference.
  • Collaborate with the communications team on various writing projects.
  • Manage projects through to delivery with little oversight.
  • Engage with the full marketing team to share research and new ideas.

  • Proven skills in copywriting, copyediting, and proofreading.
  • High level of passion for marketing, storytelling, collaboration, and team building.
  • Strong project management and interpersonal skills; ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proactive, conceptual, strategic, and creative thinker, stimulated by challenges and open-minded with a strong desire to learn.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and effectively handle multiple, concurrent demands and appropriately prioritize responsibilities.
  • Must work well in a team environment.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule when required, including evenings and weekends.
  • Strategic thinking and the ability to develop, drive, and sell ideas.
