About the Role:
PG&E is looking for an Instructional Designer to design, develop, and update technical training courses within the PG&E Academy. This role will focus on supporting an apprenticeship program and building curriculum to align with expanded job responsibilities.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner with Senior Instructional Designers and SMEs to conceptualize training design and content
  • Define learning objectives, course structures, learning content, and assessments
  • Conduct detailed content and task analysis for the target audience, business processes, and systems
  • Develop instructor-led training, virtual training, and web-based training materials
  • Create PowerPoint presentations, WBTs, student and facilitator guides, activities, scenarios, and assessments
  • Develop instructional graphics, scenarios, and interactive learning activities
  • Write clear and effective instructional and facilitator content
  • Conduct in-person and virtual working sessions with SMEs, including task analysis, alpha/beta reviews, and answer validation meetings
  • Collaborate with SMEs to review and validate training content
  • Incorporate feedback and maintain high-quality learning deliverables
  • Self-manage assignments, timelines, and deliverables while proactively communicating issues and risks
  • Support multiple training development efforts simultaneously as business needs require


Requirements:

  • 4+ years of experience developing instructor-led, eLearning, or virtual training in a technical environment
  • Strong hands-on experience with Articulate Storyline – required
  • Strong Task Analysis knowledge and experience
  • Strong understanding of adult learning theory and instructional design methodologies
  • Experience with technical writing
  • Strong PowerPoint and Word skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a high-performing, collaborative team
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple development projects
  • Creative, adaptable, self-directed, and comfortable receiving and incorporating feedback
  • Safety training knowledge is highly desired
  • Experience with QuestionMark and/or Author-it is a plus
  • Utility industry training experience is highly desired
