Job description

Safety Specialist, Onsite, Easton PA

GENERAL SUMMARY:

The focus of the position is execution of the safety strategy with the goal of continuously reducing workplace injuries/illnesses with a focus on safety training and safety audits on off shifts, to include 2nd and 3rd shift. and complying with all safety and health laws and regulations.  In addition, this role will support the execution of environmental tasks as directed. 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state and local safety, health and environmental regulations.
  • Ensure compliance by conducting environmental, health and safety audits and assessments to include formal audits coordinated with management team and informal audits through frequent weekly/daily tours of the plant.
  • Conduct and document incident investigations in a timely manner. Analyze data and conduct root cause analysis and hazard identification.  Coordinate with appropriate parties to execute the correction or removal of hazards. 
  • Develop and conduct safety training including but not limited to annual compliance training, new hire training, forklift training, etc.
  • Support the safety and health strategy to include facilitating safety committee meetings, participating in safety focus groups and providing weekly safety topics.
  • Attend toolbox talks when requested
  • Assist in environmental testing including but not limited to noise and air sampling.
  • Assist in executing safety engagement initiatives to drive an overall positive safety culture

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

  • 3 years of industrial safety experience with OSHA 30 hour preferred
  • Knowledge of Safety regulations including: OSHA, NFPA, ANSI, etc.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with peers, work in group and individual environments.
  • Experienced in developing, writing and maintaining manuals and training aids intended to ensure effective and efficient results.
  • Excellent PC skills – including developing presentations and documents for training/communication and spreadsheets and graphs to document and share safety related information.
  • Requires independent thinking and work/project execution. 
  • Requires quick decision-making abilities. 
  • Must be flexible to work various shifts & respond to emergencies 24x7.
