Job Title:  Child Nutrition Services Associate

 

Report to:  Cafeteria Manager   

 

Department:  Child Nutrition Services

 

Number of days:  172                         

 

Compensation: Per Negotiated Agreement

Position Summary: To serve nutritious, economical, pleasing meals and a la carte foods to students while following all local, state and federal regulations/guidelines.

 

Qualifications/Job Requirements:               

 
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Quantity food preparation experience desirable.
  • Math skills for recipe conversions.
  • Valid food handler's permit.
  • Must be able to comply with essential duties criteria for this job description.
 

Job Essentials

 
  • Occasional Squat/craw/kneel/lift up to 75 lbs.
  • Frequent Bend/Stoop, climb height, crouch, Balance, push/pull, reach above shoulder, lift 0-50 lbs.
  • Being around moving machines, working on unprotected heights, exposure to dust, fumes, gases, etc., Work from elevated scaffolding, ladder or machinery.
  • Ability to work/deal with students, work with industrial cleaning equipment/supplies, work with industrial mechanical equipment/supplies.
  • Work with industrial food service equipment/supplies, computer skills,
  • Supervises assigned helpers, Supervises project to completion, Maintain special licensing/certification, exposure to outside working conditions, working with wheelchair students
  • Maintain sanitary working/instructional areas, follow daily schedule, ability to deal with confidential information
 

            Duties and Responsibilities:

 
  • Know and recognize what constitutes a reimbursable meal.
  • Prepares food following standardized recipes according to local, state and federal regulations and guidelines.
  • Serves food that not only looks appealing but also tastes good and adheres to proper food temperatures.
  • Maintains high standards of safety, sanitation and food storage.
  • Operates and cleans all kitchen equipment according to the manufacturer's guidelines.
  • Assist other workers as needed and/or assigned.
  • Maintains confidentiality of free and reduced status of students.
  • Attends staff development.
  • Notifies manager of needed maintenance/repairs as pertains to kitchen and equipment.
  • Notifies manager as stock runs low.
  • Provides exceptional customer service and responds to student and/or parent concerns.
  • Performs custodial duties related to student meal service.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
