About KYTV/KSPR:

KY3 is part of a seven-station group in Springfield, MO. KY3 is one of the most dominant NBC affiliates in the country. KY3/KSPR covers 31 counties in southwest Missouri and northwest Arkansas. We are proud of our close connections with the communities we serve in the Ozarks.

Job Description/Summary:

KY3, the dominant number one station in Springfield, MO, is looking for a news videographer. Are you a go-getter who loves breaking news and weather and can quickly turn video for a newscast? Do you have an eye for powerful images? Are you a curious person who can ask your own questions on stories, breaking news, or in news conferences? If so, we would love to have you here. The successful candidate doesn’t wait for the news to come to you; you find it with a sense of urgency. If you love shooting video and interviews, this is the job for you.

Duties/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

* Shooting and editing video for newscasts, with or without a reporter.
* Must be willing and able to shoot creative and active live shots.
* Must work with reporters, producers, and anchors to develop story ideas and live shots
* Must be able to maintain gear and the station-assigned car and treat both with respect. We want someone to take pride in the equipment and make sure it is always ready to go.
* Must have great technical knowledge and/or the ability to learn.
* Must be able to operate high-tech multimedia equipment, including live equipment
* Must be inquisitive
* Must shoot and edit compelling and brand-focused stories
* Must be able to do sequence shooting and editing (not a lot of pans/zooming in and out unless necessary)
* Must have flexibility. While the person we hire will have a “usual” schedule set, you must be able to work various shifts when needed, including weekends and holidays.
* Must be able to work well as part of a team and communicate well, especially during breaking news situations in the field.
* Must have a strong “eye” for video composition and the ability to find the “real people” for every story.
* Must be great under pressure. We love employees who thrive during times of breaking news and daily coverage and can still maintain calm.
* Must crave feedback and critique from a variety of mentors in the newsroom.

Qualifications/Requirements:

* Advanced skills in videography and professional video gear are required
* Advanced skills in non-linear editing required. Experience with Edius is a plus but not required
* Must have an understanding or willingness to learn about the Ozarks and our 31-county DMA
* Must have the ability to stand for long periods of time and carry 50 lbs of equipment
* Basic knowledge of federal, Missouri, and Arkansas video/journalism laws is a plus
