This assessment could be in the form of analysis of environments, transport of those environments through system enclosures, modeling the interaction or radiation with components and sensors, or testing of components and sensors. Typical systems and components include inertial navigation systems, inertial sensors (accelerometers and gyroscopes), MEMS devices, ASICs, fiber optics, and other electronic components. The ideal candidate would have deep experience with all aspects of radiation testing including planning, hardware and software development, coordinating test logistics, executing tests, and reporting on results. The role will require working with one or more teams in helping programs evaluate, refine, and validate components and hardware designs intended to operate in extremely challenging environments. Travel to support testing and other efforts will be required for this position. Less than 25% in a given year is expected. โ€ข Support engineering decisions based on radiation effects on overall system performance.
โ€ข Design harden and verify the performance of systems across multiple radiation effects, including dose rate, total ionizing dose (TID), neutron displacement damage (NDD), and single event effects (SEE).
โ€ข Support interdisciplinary teams to ensure that radiation hardening is maintained across the product lifecycle.
โ€ข Independently drive solutions to complex problems - develop requirements, propose ways forward when customer requirements are unclear or incomplete, and adapt appropriately to changes in requirements
โ€ข Sustained record of successful task leadership. Identifies risks and develops and executes mitigation strategies for them. โ€ข Demonstrated ability to lead medium-sized teams (5-10 people). Reliably aligns team towards program goals and builds trust within the team. โ€ข Subject Matter Expert (SME) able to perform advanced radiation effects analyses
