Job description

Job Summary

Vantage Rooftop Bar is located within The Karol Hotel, a boutique hotel located in the Feather Sound area of Clearwater, FL. Convenient to the beaches, St Pete, and Tampa, The Karol Hotel features 123 rooms and suites, and features The Katch restaurant and Vantage Rooftop Bar, along with ballrooms and conference rooms to host events. The Karol Hotel is part of Marriott's Tribute Portfolio.

Craft Cocktail Bartenders at Vantage Rooftop Bar will be responsible for ensuring exceptional service to all guests that is consistent and continually in accordance with Marriott's Tribute Portfolio Standards.

Essential Functions

  • Curate guests' bar experience by making recommendations and providing Marriott hotel excellence.
  • Knowledge of all beverages to include liquors and wines
  • Serves guests in an efficient courteous manner following the proper steps of service
  • Knowledge of proper cocktail making, as trained by Karol Management via Marriott standards
  • Have necessary tools to run the shift such as pen, corkscrew, any bar tools, etc.
  • Ability to pair wines with meals
  • Understanding that bar serves full menu and must be prepared as much to server full coursed or shared meals to guests
  • Light food running when applicable, ability to carry plates that may be warm or hot
  • Knowledge of all menu items to include prep time, preparations, sauces, allergies, and accompaniments
  • Collect payment for food and beverages served
  • Follow TIPS practices to ensure safe and responsible serving of alcohol per Marriott and hotel procedures
  • Be aware of any specials, soups, drinks, and any items that are running low
  • Ability to handle station, or when situations arise, ability to let manager/supervisor know ahead of time so as not to affect the guest experience
  • Follow cash handling procedures, and must be able to explain shortages and overages
  • Maintain bar area
  • Clean glasses, utensils, and bar equipment per Marriott safety procedures
  • Perform other duties as management requests to service our guests
  • Ensure successful performance assisting guests with an exceptional experience to ensure high performing scores on Marriott's Guest Satisfaction Survey

Qualification Standards

Education & Experience

  • High School diploma or higher
  • Previous hospitality experience required
  • Minimum two-year bartending experience in high volume bar or restaurant in greater Tampa Bay area
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to use technology e.g. tablets, iPads

Physical Demands

  • Ability to lift 20 pounds or more
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to communicate clearly
  • Make sound judgments quickly
  • Work on multiple tasks, making appropriate progress towards deadlines
  • Able to work independently, take direction, and provide direction to others
