Are you passionate about working with children and ensuring their safety and well-being? Capitol Language Services (CLS) is seeking enthusiastic individuals to join our team as After-School Instructors for SY 2025-2026. As an After-School Instructor, you will play a crucial role in providing a supportive and engaging environment for children during their after-school hours. We work with children PreK 3 - 5th grade.


Please note this position starts August 24, 2026 - this is not a summer position.


Key Responsibilities:

- Required availability Monday to Friday 3:00 to 6:00 PM. No partial weeks.

-Engage and teach children various activities, such as arts and crafts, STEM, homework and monitor playground and snack time.

- Ensure safety, inclusivity and prevent bullying during the program hours.

- Adhere strictly to assigned schedules and notify any errors or inconsistencies.

- Take attendance during every transition.

- Manage student allergies and medical needs.


Additional Responsibilities:

- Follow protocols for inclement weather, ensuring activities are engaging and screen-free.

- Monitor bathroom breaks.

- Resolve minor behavioral issues by fostering peaceful resolutions.

- Report conflicts and incidents promptly to the Program Coordinator and complete incident reports.

- Set up, clean and store activity materials in assigned spaces.


Qualifications:

- High school diploma or equivalent required.

-Must be at least 18 years old.

-At least 1 year experience in childcare.

-Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

-Patience and ability to handle various learning abilities.

-Good references from previous employers.

-Must be willing to undergo a DCPS background check.


Location:

You will be assigned to ONE of our 3 locations in NW DC.

- $19 an hour.

- Bi-monthly attendance bonus for eligible employees for consistent attendance.

- Must be available for the mandatory training August 17-21. The specific dates for the training will be confirmed by the end of July.
