Job description

What you will do:
The Global Commodity Buyer is responsible for defining and executing global procurementstrategies for assigned commodity groups, including Li-ion cells, plastics, mechanicalcomponents, and general electronics. The role ensures competitiveness in cost, quality, delivery, and lifecycle stability, while
enabling innovation and supporting global program requirements. The position works cross-functionally with Engineering, Program Management, Supplier Quality, Operations, andGlobal Purchasing to drive sourcing excellence and long-term value creation.

How You Will Do

  • Develop and deploy global sourcing strategies aligned with business objectives,product roadmaps, and regional requirements

  • Manage total spend and supplier base for assigned commodities, ensuring optimalsourcing footprint and risk mitigation

  • Lead global supplier selection, commercial negotiations, and contract management

  • Drive cost optimization initiatives including volume bundling, dual sourcing, design-to-cost, and lifecycle-based sourcing

  • Build and maintain strong supplier relationships to support long-term performance,innovation, and capacity growth

  • Ensure alignment with quality, cost, delivery, and service expectations across allprograms

  • Support global procurement process improvements, digitalization, and governance

  • Work closely with Program management, Operations, Engineering and otherdepartments for existing programs and new programs.

  • Develop and implement negotiation strategies for global and regional materials.

  • Lead supplier selection, RFQs, contract negotiations, and long-term agreements

  • Manage supplier performance, including cost, quality, delivery, and service metrics

  • Evaluate supplier quotations using advanced cost analysis and procurementtechniques

  • Drive supplier development initiatives to improve productivity, quality, and costcompetitiveness

  • Support capacity planning and supply assurance strategies, including risk mitigation(e.g., EOL, PCN, allocation risks for electronics).

  • Collaborate with Engineering on design-to-cost, BOM optimization, and lifecyclemanagement

  • Work with Program Management to ensure alignment with program milestones, costtargets, and timing

  • Support prototype, Prototype, ED,DV/PV, and serial production readiness withsuppliers and operations.

  • Develop and maintain budgets, standard costs, and savings roadmaps for assignedcommodities

  • Identify and implement process improvements across sourcing, procurement tools,and supplier management.

  • Contribute to long-term commodity strategy and manage complex commercial andsupply chain risks

What We Look For:
Required

University degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, or equivalent
Solid experience in global purchasing, commodity management, or supplier
development in an industrial/automotive environment
Strong knowledge of sourcing strategies, contract negotiation, and procurementregulations
Proficiency in SAP/ERP systems, cost analysis, and MS Office.
Fluent in English (additional language is a plus)

Preferred
Experience in Li-ion battery components, Super capacitors, plastics, mechanicalsystems, or electronics sourcing. (extended scope added)
Knowledge of electronics commodity fundamentals (e.g., PCBA, semiconductors,lifecycle management).
Experience with supplier development and global sourcing across regions (EMEA,NA, APAC).
Familiarity with APQP/PPAP and automotive quality standards (IATF 16949).
Strong analytical, negotiation, and stakeholder management capabilities.
