Position Summary Information
Job Description Summary
Instructors work on a contract/part-time basis to teach BLS courses (CPR/AED and First Aid training) under the American Heart Association curriculum. Instructors are responsible for facilitating video presentations, instructor lectures, skills demonstrations, testing students, answering questions, and completing post-course rosters/paperwork. Position may require traveling.
Minimum Qualifications
Certifications in related field and/or High School Diploma.
Minimum 5 years related work experience.
Must be an AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION INSTRUCTOR (BLS) - NOT AMERICAN RED CROSS.
Required Job Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Available as needed (Saturdays and during the week)
Outstanding public speaking skills
Ability to teach effectively in an adult learning environment
Responsible and punctual
Ability to teach/organize independently
Ability to communicate course material in a clear and understandable manner
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds at a time
Possess a valid driver's license with the ability to be insurable by Del Mar College
Preferred Qualifications
One or more year(s) experience in teaching.
Certifications in the area of expertise required to teach.
Must have at least two years of field experience with an approved certification or licensure in instructional discipline.
