Description Summary
To provide in-person bilingual (Spanish) instruction for Heartsaver CPR/AED/1st Aid using lecture and hands on instruction/demonstration.
Examples of Duties
Constant (67-100%)
  • Provide Heartsaver CPR/AED/1st Aid training for community, business and industry needs.
  • Possess the ability to organize and present various concepts to a wide range of students with varying background and abilities and adjust teaching techniques accordingly.
  • Set and maintain safety standards and ensure they are followed.

Frequent (34-66%)
  • Maintain & report proper documentation of training records.
  • Ensure proper maintenance of the equipment and training aids.
  • Request purchases for necessary equipment and materials.

Occasional (10-33%)
  • Maintain instructor certification for Heartsaver CPR/AED/1st Aid.
  • Be willing to travel and transport equipment and training aids to and from instructional sites.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

1. Will represent Iowa Central Community College in a positive manner with prospective, former, and current students, clients, suppliers, and the community we serve.
2. Will make effective use of class time.
3. Will maintain accurate records of students' grades and attendance.
4. Will use effective teaching strategies.
5. Will provide students with objectives of the course and follow objectives.
6. Will make adequate preparation for all classes and training activities.
7. Will keep current in the subject areas taught.
8. Will inform students as to how they will be graded.
9. Will treat all students with proper respect.
10. Will be sensitive to all students' needs.
11. Will encourage students to raise questions.
Qualifications
Current certification as a Heartsaver CPR/AED/First Aid instructor. Preference given to those also certified to teach BLS.
Proficient in Spanish and English communication.

GENERAL PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES WITH OR WITHOUT A REASONABLE ACCOMMODATION:
Position involves constant (67-100%) talking, hearing, listening, viewing, communicating via telephone and e-mail, and demonstrate proper industry-based techniques and skills; frequent (34-66%) writing on board of overhead, manipulating instructional aids/equipment, walking in office and classrooms and between buildings and travel in all seasons; and occasional (10-33%) travel, kneeling, reaching, pushing, pulling, or carrying/lifting items up to 25 pounds.
