Programs are offered for children, adolescents and adults struggling with mental illness as well as offering services specializing in Anxiety, Eating Disorders, and Geriatric Services.
Job Summary
Under the direction of the Director Education, Quality & Safety, along with Mgr Nursing Coordinator, plans, organizes and provides training throughout the organization, including Behavior Management, CPR, First Aid, and other training as directed. Assists with orientation, committee participation, training development, program support and consultation, develops monthly calendars and tracking compliance, and data entry.
Job Responsibilities
  • Adapts standard trainings and delivers educational sessions, including new employee orientation, behavioral management, CPR, First Aid and other topics as determined by the orientation schedule and the training and educational needs of colleagues
  • Adapts standard trainings and coordinates courses, programs and projects utilizing age appropriate learning methodologies, and effective use of resources (human, material and technological) to meet the learning needs of students. Assist colleagues in locating required certification classes
  • Collaborates/partners with other hospital personnel to provide learning experiences that enhance the basic teaching process.
  • Applies competencies, including knowledge and behaviors, to meet age specific patient needs (e.g. Pediatrics, Adolescents, Geriatrics). Uses the principles of adult learning in designing, presenting and evaluating class effectiveness.
    Promotes and models trauma-informed care, early intervention, pro-active staff response and restraint/seclusion as a last resort. Maintains safety in the classroom while effectively role modeling effective interventions
  • Participates in the planning, development and delivery of annual staff education
  • Identifies colleagues who have an interest to training classes and monitors teaching quality and participant satisfaction
  • Promotes and models trauma-informed care, early intervention, pro-active staff response and restraint/seclusion as a last resort. Maintains safety in the classroom while effectively role modeling effective interventions
  • Collaborates with the Behavioral Health Network and community groups (I.e. law enforcement, EMTs) in bringing behavioral health education to the community and vice versa. Specifically, assists with Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training
  • Perform other related duties as required

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in a Human Services field.
  • Two years of direct care experience with psychiatric patients.
  • Certification expected within one year of hire as a Behavior Management Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) instructor and Mental Health First Aid, CPR (RQI) superuser and First Aid instructor
  • Ability to accommodate a minimum of two shifts per month
