Description

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Junior Product Development Specialist to support our Product Development team. This role will be responsible for managing product specifications for raw materials and finished goods, overseeing the change control process across multiple production locations, and supporting a variety of additional tasks within the New Product Development process. 

The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment while ensuring documentation integrity, version control, and compliance with internal procedures and industry standards. The successful candidate must be adaptable to managing high volumes of requests, willing to support cross-functional NPD initiatives as needed, and able to quickly learn and navigate new software systems and tools as business needs evolve. 


Key Responsibilities: 

New Product Development  

  • Support various activities related to new product commercialization, including but not limited to change order requests, in-house surveys and data collection, testing of product prototypes, and sourcing-related activities.  
  • Upload new product information to multiple platforms and assist with copy approval as needed.  
  • Support additional activities related to new product commercialization and cross-functional project execution.  

Specification Management 

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to draft, review, and maintain specifications for raw materials, packaging components, and finished goods.  

Change Control Management 

  • Manage the change order process, including routing, tracking, and final approval of specification and process changes.  
  • Maintain a clear and auditable history of document revisions across multiple production facilities, including coordination with cross-functional teams (QA, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and Legal) to implement changes effectively and in a timely manner.  

Communication & Training 

  • Communicate changes and updates to relevant departments and production sites.  
  • Provide training and guidance to teams on document control procedures when necessary.

Requirements

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a technical, scientific, or business-related field.  
  • 2+ years of experience in product development support (CPG, food, supplements, or pharmaceutical industry preferred), document control, or quality assurance. 
  • Demonstrated flexibility in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to balance multiple requests while maintaining focus on high-priority tasks.  
  • Familiarity with document control software or systems such as ECI Deacom, Monday.com, Dropbox, Ziflow, etc.  
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.  
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience managing documentation for products manufactured at multiple sites.  
  • Knowledge of FDA, USDA, or other regulatory requirements for product documentation.  
  • Background in food science, nutrition, or a related field.
