What is CPA security?

CPA security, or Chosen Plaintext Attack security, is a property of cryptographic encryption schemes. It means that even if an attacker can obtain ciphertexts for plaintexts of their choosing, they cannot learn any information about the plaintexts beyond what they already know. CPA security is considered a basic security requirement for modern encryption algorithms and is essential for protecting data against active adversaries. Most widely used encryption schemes today, such as AES in certain modes, are designed to be CPA-secure.
