What is a courtesy officer?

A Courtesy Officer is typically a security professional, often with a law enforcement background, hired by apartment complexes or residential communities to help maintain safety and security on the property. Their duties often include patrolling the premises, responding to resident concerns, monitoring for suspicious activity, and sometimes enforcing community rules. Courtesy Officers may also provide assistance in emergencies and help deter crime through their visible presence. They often live on-site and may receive discounted or free housing as part of their compensation. The role is a blend of security guard and community liaison.

What are the typical daily responsibilities of a courtesy officer in an apartment community?

Courtesy Officers in apartment communities are responsible for maintaining a visible security presence, patrolling common areas, responding to resident concerns, and reporting suspicious activities.
