Job description

Engineering Instructor - Alcorn Career and Technology Center

Education

  • Applicant must have earned a four-year college degree (bachelor's degree) or higher from an accredited institution of higher education.  Degree must be in engineering, mathematics, physics, chemistry, computer science, electrical technology, or an appropriate field of science approved by the Mississippi Department of Education or have one of the following endorsements: 154 - Math, 185 or 627 - Chemistry, 189, 629, 630, or 631 - Physics, 609 or 610 - Calculus, 612 or 613 - Computer Science

Occupational Experience

  • Applicant must have at least one year of verifiable occupational experience in the past ten years.
  • Experience must be appropriate to the subject being taught.
  • Exception - Teachers that have a currently valid five-year license are not required to have the occupational experience.  

Requirements upon employment

  • Applicant must complete the NTI (New Teacher Induction) program.  (Exception:  Teachers that have a currently valid five-year license or have completed an alternate route program do not have to complete NTI.)
  • Applicant must complete the Certification of Online Learning workshop and obtain a passing score on a Technology Assessment approved by the Mississippi Department of Education.
  • Applicant must complete the Engineering Methods Course approved by the Mississippi Department of Education.
