SouthWest Metro Intermediate District #288 has a full-time opening for a Medical Careers, Health Science, or Nursing Services Teacher in the Career and Technical Education department at our Dean Lakes Education Center in Shakopee, MN

Description:
Medical Careers, Health Science, or Nursing Services Teacher, 8 hours a day for 185 Contract Days. 
Job Summary:
Provide instruction in Emergency Medical Responder and/or Certified Nursing Assistant. Responsibilities include lesson planning and instruction, conducting ongoing assessments, monitoring student attendance, collaborating with other staff, and keeping student records. 
Qualifications:   









  • Experience working with multicultural populations and English language learners preferred.
  • Minnesota Teaching License in the career and technical field (or ability to obtain due to Industry Experience) of Allied Health, Nursing Services, or Health Sciences for K-12 required.
  • Must meet the requirements to be approved and listed as Course Faculty on SouthWest Metro Intermediate District 288's Minnesota Office of Emergency Medical Services EMR/EMT Education Program application.
  • For EMT instruction, must meet Minnesota Statutes 144E.283 Instructor Qualifications, including:
    • Possess valid certification, registration, or licensure as an EMT, AEMT, Paramedic, Physician, Physician Assistant.
    • Have a minimum of two years of active emergency medical practical experience.
    • Be eligible for recommendation and approval by the program Medical Director.
    • Must have experience working within an Emergency Medical Services education program that is currently approved, or has previously been approved, by the Minnesota Office of Emergency Medical Services (OEMS).
    • Complete and maintain required continuing education in educational topics.
  • For EMR instruction, must possess valid registration, certification, or licensure as an EMR, EMT, AEMT, Paramedic, Physician, Physician Assistant.
  • Experience with multiple instructional designs and differentiated instruction.
  • Strong classroom management skills.
  • Ability to build successful relationships with students and staff.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with teams.

Pay & Benefits: 
The pay range is $56,000-103,000 based on education and experience. Competitive and comprehensive benefit package available:
