Job description

The City of Aurora is accepting applications for seasonal job positions for the Phillips Park Golf Course. Positions are available from approximately March through November.
The Golf Seasonal Pro Shop Cashier will function in any of the qualifying categories. The Golf Shop Pro Shop Cashiers & Sales associates will assist with the daily management of play, practice facilities, golf cart fleet management and any other duties assigned. This position reports to Golf course management.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Becomes versed in POS system and cash handling procedures, sales, and transaction returns.
  • Opening and closing shifts for golf clubhouse operations.
  • Collect payment for golf fees, golfer check-in and merchandise sales.
  • Assist golfers with tee times, reservations, and check in procedures.
  • Monitor golf cart fleet usage through GPS software.
  • Provides superior customer service and assistance to guests both over the phone and in person.
  • Assist in set-up of tournaments and outings.
  • Inform golfers of golf course policies.
  • Assist other staff with special duties assigned by professional staff
  • Stage golf carts for daily play.
  • Park/store and clean golf cart after daily play.
  • Conduct oneself in a professional manner and always maintains a professional image.
  • Monitor safety of golf patrons.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:
  • Minimum 16 years of age.
  • Position is subject to modified/flexible work schedule during high volume work periods, including weekends and evenings.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to address complaints and resolve concerns, as needed.
  • Ability to work independently without constant supervision.
  • Ability to learn golf etiquette.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Previous golf experience preferred.

Must be able to pass a physical, drug screen, and background investigation.
The hourly wage is $17.81 - $25/hour, depending on qualifications.
Seasonal employees may receive preference in consideration for potential promotional opportunities within the City.
