Job description


POSITION:
SALARY:






Mail Delivery Person
Part-Time Position, Non-Exempt
2 hours per day / 10 hours per week
$17.50/hour





AVAILABLE:

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid state driver's license in good standing
  • Ability to meet district vehicle insurance/eligibility requirements to operate a district-provided vehicle (a clean driving record is required; district will conduct a driving record check)
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to independently manage a fixed daily schedule
  • Ability to lift and carry mail bins, packages, and supplies (up to approximately 2530 lbs)
  • Basic organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Successful completion of required background check(s) per district policy (e.g., criminal history/ICHAT, as applicable)


PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

  • Prior experience in mail delivery, courier services, or a similar route-based position
  • Familiarity with Comstock Public Schools buildings/locations


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Demonstrated ability to work well with students, staff, administration, and community members
  • Positive attitude, manner, and appearance; ability to communicate effectively
  • Willingness to be trained and enthusiasm to join a team
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Pride in completing work effectively/efficiently
  • Maintain flexible work schedule, as necessary, and perform other duties as assigned
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 pounds


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Pick up and deliver mail, packages, and interoffice correspondence between district buildings and other designated stops on a consistent daily schedule
  • Sort incoming and outgoing mail accurately by building, department, or recipient
  • Operate a district-provided vehicle in a safe manner, following all applicable traffic laws and district vehicle-use policies
  • Perform basic pre- and post-trip vehicle checks (e.g., fuel level, visible damage) and report any vehicle issues promptly
  • Maintain accurate delivery logs or records as required
  • Handle mail and packages with care, including confidential or sensitive materials
  • Communicate proactively with building secretaries/office staff regarding delivery schedules or delays
  • Maintain a professional, courteous demeanor when interacting with district staff and the public
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
  • Practice proper sanitizing protocols to ensure clean and safe environment
  • Perform essential job functions specific to this position
  • Proactively seeks areas to clean outside of defined scope as able to
  • Reports to the Custodial Lead and Custodial Supervisor


ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:


  • This is a 2-hour-per-day, 10-hour-per-week position; specific daily start/end times to be determined based on district delivery schedule needs
  • A district vehicle will be provided for all delivery routes; personal vehicle use is not required
  • Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a driving record review, background check, and any other district-required screenings
