These jobs are often found in hospitality, housekeeping, caretaking, or seasonal work such as at resorts, campsites, or farms. Employers typically provide on-the-job training, making it possible for couples new to the industry to start working without specialized skills. These opportunities often include benefits like accommodation or meals, and are popular among couples seeking adventure or a change in lifestyle. The main requirement is a willingness to learn and work as a team.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in entry-level couples counseling roles?

Familiarity with counseling frameworks, basic documentation software, and supervised practice or certification in counseling techniques is often expected. Strong interpersonal skills, empathy, and the ability to remain neutral help build trust and facilitate open communication between partners. These competencies are essential for fostering healthy relationships and guiding couples toward effective conflict resolution.

What are some common challenges couples might face when starting a new job together with no prior experience?

Couples entering a new job together without prior experience may face unique challenges such as learning new skills simultaneously while also balancing their personal and professional relationships. Job description

fuCouples & Family Therapist (Independent Contractor position, serving 15 - 25 clients per week)

Collaborative Health Center | Livonia, MI In-person or Hybrid, Flexible Schedule

We’re looking for radically genuine, joy-filled, growth-minded, deeply kind (yet direct) therapists to join our team.

At Collaborative Health Center, you’ll do meaningful work—with structure, support, and laughter—surrounded by people who get it. And you’ll do it while maintaining a sustainable caseload, with full admin support and peer consultation —because therapists deserve care, too.

Who You Are:

  • Self-aware, feedback-seeking, and ethically grounded

  • Clinically curious and committed to high-quality care

  • Serious about providing great therapy (but not too serious to laugh)

  • A thoughtful, team-oriented human who thinks critically, cares deeply, and shows up authentically

Couples & Family Counseling Focus

We’re especially excited to welcome clinicians who are passionate about couples and family therapy. Whether you love helping couples reconnect, supporting families through complex situations, or guiding children or teens within the family system, your relational expertise is deeply valued here.

Ideal candidates will be experienced in couples, family, and/or systems work—but if you bring strong clinical skills and a passion for relational therapy, we’d love to talk.

You’ll Stand Out If You Have:

  • Experience with CBT or other evidence-based therapies

  • A strong background working with couples, families, teens, and children

  • Active Michigan license: LMSW, LPC, LLP, LP, or LMFT.

Why Join Collaborative Health Center:

  • You decide which clients you work with

  • You decide when and how you work (flexible scheduling)

  • No billing or admin chaos—we handle all of that

  • Ongoing opportunities for collaboration, consultation with peers, and opportunities to contribute to and affect change in your work environment — your experience matters to us

  • Continuing education opportunities, clinical support, and a leadership team that truly listens

  • A team that leads with compassion, stays curious, and values you as a person first

Come grow with a team that believes in sustainable, joyful, relationally-driven therapy!
