Torch Technologies is seeking a highly motivated and innovative Software Engineer to join our team in support of the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) Modeling & Simulation (M&S) System Integration team. Working with our Systems Engineering team, you will translate operational requirements into practical, user-focused automation solutions that make our multi-disciplinary teams more efficient and better connected.

In this role, you will design, develop, and maintain advanced low-code applications, business workflows, and collaboration environments across platforms like the Microsoft Power Platform, SharePoint, and the Atlassian Suite. You will build the tools that manage critical operational data-such as asset allocation, task tracking, travel tracking, and personnel workflows. Furthermore, you will actively leverage emerging AI-assisted development tools to accelerate delivery, optimize code, and improve software quality.

As a Software Engineer 3, your duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Solution Development: Design, develop, test, and deploy software solutions, scripts, and workflows using Power Apps, Power Automate, SharePoint Online, Service Now, Jira, and Confluence.

  • Workflow Automation: Build automated processes for data extraction, transformation, reporting, task tracking, and repeatable business operations to reduce manual effort.

  • User Interface Design: Develop intuitive, user-friendly front-ends and forms with a strong focus on usability, user experience, and customer adoption.

  • Systems Integration: Collaborate directly with Senior Systems Engineers to translate high-level system requirements and identified process bottlenecks into functional software capabilities and site configurations.

  • Site & Environment Architecture: Design, develop, and maintain functional SharePoint sites and Confluence spaces. Plan layouts, content structures, libraries, lists, and permission schemes aligned with user needs.

  • Platform Maintenance: Monitor automation tools and collaboration solutions for performance, reliability, data quality, and usability, proactively identifying opportunities for improvement.

  • Compliance & Security: Ensure automated processes and collaboration environments maintain data accuracy, secure access control, and strict compliance with DoD/MDA requirements.

  • AI-Assisted Development: Leverage AI tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Gemini) to support code generation, peer review, debugging, optimization, and documentation.

  • Technical Documentation: Write clear, maintainable code, configuration documentation, user guides, and technical reports to support long-term sustainment.

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Participate in working groups, sprint planning, and technical interchange meetings. Present implementation progress and solution concepts to team members and leadership.

Job Requirements:

  • U.S. Citizenship

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, a related technical field, or equivalent professional experience.

  • 5+ years of applicable software engineering, business process automation, or software development experience.

  • Active Secret security clearance

  • Experience developing custom process automation tools, workflows, forms, and collaboration solutions using Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate), Jira, Confluence, and SharePoint.

  • Strong understanding of software development principles, databases, APIs, system design, and maintainable coding practices.

  • Experience using AI-powered development tools (such as GitHub Copilot, Gemini, or similar coding assistants) to support daily software development and troubleshooting.

  • Ability to work in an Agile development environment, translating user needs and business processes into clear technical solutions.

  • Detail-oriented mindset with a focus on delivering secure, reliable, high-quality solutions that meet strict mission needs.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work directly with systems engineers, stakeholders, and leadership.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with front-end web development languages and frameworks (e.g., HTML, CSS, JavaScript).

  • Familiarity with AI/ML frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch)

  • Experience working on DoD software programs, government contracts, or within the MDA environment.
