Job description

Construction Inspector

Join a team that's helping build and improve North Carolina's transportation infrastructure. We're looking for a Construction Inspector to perform roadway inspections, asphalt density testing, and materials testing to ensure projects meet NCDOT quality and safety standards. This is a hands-on field role offering the opportunity to work on impactful transportation projects while advancing your career in construction inspection and materials testing.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform roadway inspections and quality assurance testing on transportation projects.
  • Conduct asphalt density testing and inspect asphalt and concrete materials.
  • Document test results, inspection findings, and project records accurately.
  • Communicate with contractors, project teams, and agency representatives.
  • Maintain testing equipment and ensure proper calibration.
  • Promote safety and quality on active construction sites.
  • Travel to project locations throughout North Carolina as needed.

Requirements:

  • Current NCDOT QMS Roadway Technician Certification OR NCDOT QMS Density Gauge Technician Certification.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Experience with roadway inspection, materials testing, or construction quality management.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills.
  • Knowledge of NCDOT standards and testing procedures.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Preferred:

  • Possession of both NCDOT Roadway and Density Gauge certifications.
  • NCDOT Conventional Density Technician Certification.
  • Concrete inspection experience.
  • Civil or transportation construction experience.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $35.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
