Job description

RESPONSIBILITIES: The staff position is responsible for learning the functions of the entire finance department including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, grant work, payroll, revenue reconciliation, counting daily revenue, processing ticket orders, and other daily tasks. This position will have assigned daily tasks and will also serve as backup to other functions in the department. This position will report to the Senior Director of Finance. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES Responsible for reviewing all Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable for all three divisions of the Authority, LANta Bus, LANta Van, and Carbon County.Process all account reconciliation including pre-paid schedules and accruals.Make entries on grants, preventative maintenance, assets, and operating costs into the general ledger and verify insurance grant sheets are up to date and draw down fund requests.Write and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) for the department.Enter payroll accruals and expenses to general ledger.Journal entries and monitor the general ledger during the month for accuracy.Process, enter, and review employee payroll and wage updates as awarded/required in accordance with Collective Bargaining Agreement.Process online change of address requests and update W-4 information as needed .Process changes to direct deposit accounts and set up employee pay cards if needed.Enter wage attachments/levies as ordered.Process 3rd Party disbursements, FSA, 457, BBS, Pension and Union – for vendor and bank files.Process employee expense reimbursements.Provides daily reconciliation of revenue collections for Carbon and LANtaVan Paratransit divisions.Reconciliation of deferred revenue accounts for Carbon and LANtaVan.Reconciliation of trip data for end of month accounts receivable processing.Review and record financial data onto applicable audit workpapers.Records and reconcile accounts receivable payments and reconciles monthly receivables.Records miscellaneous payments from outside agencies and vending commissions.Conduct monthly reconciliation of agency escrow accounts.Coordinates collections for low and negative balance accounts.Communicate with internal and external clients.Responds to client phone inquiries and investigates irregularities with client prepaid accounts.Count the daily revenue generated by fares collected including counting and straightening paper money and coins.Operate light office equipment and cash counting machines.Prepare the daily bank deposit for pick up by the armored car company.Drive to locations for ticket distribution to current LANTA ticket agencies to replenish their tickets for sale.Fulfill daily ticket orders.Data entry to include but not limited to, cash receipts and MA eligibility.Pickup or deliveries of mail, parts or other supplies.End of month manual ticket reconciliation of tickets received by subcontractor for trips completed for both CT & LV service.Replenishment of ticket stock for ticket vending machines. QUALIFICATIONSMinimum requirement of a High School diploma with a major course in business/accounting. Prefer advance degree in business, accounting or related field.A minimum of five years of experience in general ledgerDemonstrate skills in accounting, personal computer usage, typing, and the use of office machinesAbility to deal courteously and effectively with other LANTA employees, departments with LANTA, and the public. LANTA is an equal opportunity employer.
