Job description

Position Summary
The Cabinet Shop Countertop Fabricator / Countertop Technician is responsible for preparing, fabricating, assembling, and finishing countertop components accurately and efficiently using shop drawings, cut lists, tools, adhesives, hardware, and related shop equipment. This role helps ensure that countertops and related components are built according to production standards, quality expectations, and scheduling priorities. The ideal candidate has experience working with laminate, wood, solid surface, quartz, or other countertop materials, understands fabrication and handling methods, and takes pride in craftsmanship, organization, safety, and teamwork.


Key Responsibilities
• Read and interpret shop drawings, cut lists, job labels, and production documents
• Identify, organize, and prepare countertop materials, substrates, adhesives, edge details, hardware, and related components for each job
• Cut, assemble, laminate, edge, trim, sand, and finish countertop components according to specifications
• Build and prepare countertops, work surfaces, islands, vanity tops, desks, transaction tops, and related custom surfaces
• Install backsplashes, edge banding, build-ups, support pieces, and other related countertop details
• Perform glue-up, clamping, trimming, routing, and squaring of countertop assemblies
• Cut sink openings, cooktop openings, grommet holes, and other required field or shop modifications when needed
• Inspect completed components for sizing, alignment, seam quality, edge finish, fit, and overall appearance
• Perform minor adjustments and corrections during fabrication as needed
• Maintain production flow in order to meet deadlines and shop priorities
• Help organize and track materials, parts, and completed jobs
• Assist with sanding, cleanup, packaging, staging, and production coordination when required
• Safely operate shop tools and countertop fabrication equipment, including saws, routers, sanders, clamps, and related machinery
• Handle materials carefully to prevent chipping, cracking, scratching, or finish damage
• Perform regular cleaning and basic maintenance of tools, workstations, and fabrication areas
• Follow shop safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work area
• Communicate with management and team members regarding delays, missing materials, damaged parts, drawing issues, or production concerns
• Assist with load-out, delivery prep, and installation staging when required


Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a countertop fabricator.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, cut lists, and production documents.
  • Knowledge of cabinet construction methods, hardware installation, and woodworking materials.
  • Proficient in using common woodworking hand tools, pneumatic tools, and power tools.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a production team.
  • Good organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills.
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality.


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and walk throughout the workday.
  • Frequently lift, carry, push, or pull materials weighing up to 75 pounds.
  • Manual dexterity to safely operate hand tools and power equipment.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to wood dust, noise, adhesives, and varying temperatures.
