Job description

About O'Connor Company
O'Connor Company, part of the mSupply family of brands, is a leading wholesale distributor of HVAC equipment, parts and tools serving contractors across Kansas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Nebraska and Iowa. With trusted product lines including Trane, American Standard and Mitsubishi Electric, O'Connor has built a strong presence in the Midwest HVAC market.
The Opportunity
We're looking for a Counter Sales professional who enjoys working with customers, solving problems and being part of a fast-paced branch team.
In this role, you'll be one of the first points of contact for our customers, helping HVAC and plumbing contractors find the right products, place orders and get the answers they need. You'll build relationships with customers while supporting the day-to-day operation of the branch, from order fulfillment and inventory to merchandising and will-call.
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with people, learning products and becoming a trusted resource customers can count on.
What You'll Do
  • Deliver friendly, knowledgeable service to customers in person, by phone and through digital channels
  • Assist customers with product selection, pricing, availability and order status
  • Process customer orders accurately and coordinate deliveries and will-call pickups
  • Build strong relationships with customers and provide solutions based on their needs
  • Learn C&L's HVAC and plumbing product lines and use that knowledge to support customers and sales
  • Respond promptly to customer inquiries and follow through to resolution
  • Process returns and inspect returned or damaged products for accuracy and condition
  • Receive, stock, label and organize products according to established procedures
  • Verify incoming shipments and report discrepancies or errors
  • Maintain accurate inventory using company systems and processes
  • Set up and maintain product displays and merchandising throughout the branch
  • Support general warehouse and branch operations as needed
  • Maintain a clean, organized and safe work environment
  • Use company systems for order entry, customer communication, documentation and other daily activities
  • Work closely with customers, vendors and internal teams to keep orders and branch operations moving
  • Complete required product, systems and safety training
  • Perform additional responsibilities as business and customer needs evolve

What You Bring
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 1+ years of customer service experience
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Comfortable working directly with customers and solving problems
  • Ability to learn product information and recommend solutions based on customer needs
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately process orders and information
  • Comfortable using computers, phones, scanners and other business technology
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Strong basic math and numerical skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced branch environment

What Success Looks Like
Customers know they can count on you. You understand the products, provide accurate information and keep orders moving. You build relationships by being responsive, dependable and willing to find solutions.
You're also a team player who understands that great customer service goes beyond the counter - whether that means helping with an order, stocking product or stepping in where the branch needs support.
If you enjoy working with customers, learning the HVAC and plumbing business and being part of a team that keeps contractors moving, we'd like to talk.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
This position may require over 40 hours per week and includes regular physical activity such as:
  • Lifting 25-50 lbs for up to 5 hours per day.
  • Operating forklifts and material handling equipment for up to 6 hours daily.
  • Frequent bending, squatting, kneeling, reaching, and twisting.
  • Prolonged use of hands, arms, and feet.
  • Periods of sitting, standing, and walking throughout the shift.

What We Offer:
We prioritize your well-being from day one with a comprehensive benefits package that includes:
  • Medical, dental, vision, and prescription coverage effective immediately
  • 401(k) plan with company contributions
  • Life insurance and short- and long-term disability coverage
  • HSA/FSA options and an Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
  • Paid time off, including vacation, holidays, and personal days
  • Weekly pay, employee discounts, and more
